Aw crud. The watch wasn't stolen
Just watching the Colbert Report and he showed an even clearer view of the watch incident. And yeah, at first glance it looks like it was stolen but a closer examination suggests he may have taken the watch off and handed it off to the CIA guy to his right.

3. I saw the video as well and I can't blame him for taking it off
Right before that it seemed like several blatant attempts to remove it - and even if not, it would be distracting as hell as hands were catching on it.

His watch is the Paris Hilton of bush of late, seems like there are a lot more things about him I could be posting about - yet here I am

4. He strikes me as the kind of guy who
checks for his wallet after meeting non-white people.

5. Was there any doubt that he would be REALLY in that kind of situation?

What are the odds that the people he was shaking hands with WEREN'T all vetted by the security detail? For that matter, what are the odds there weren't security people in that "crowd" as well?

For somebody who couldn't walk across the lawn to talk to a dead soldier's mom, he sure had no problem being in a crowd of non-Republican donors.

6. I saw that, but I'm still not convinced....
Footage shot from a different angle still indicates that it could have been slipped off of his wrist.

And it really did look like some of those hands were trying to remove it.

Whether his watch was stolen or he removed it because he thought it would be stolen, it doesn't reflect well on him. (We love you! Come closer so I can steal your watch!)
