does the lack of a GOP rally round bush (immigration meeting) |
|
bush went to the hill yesterday to try to rally GOPers to support HIS Government's immigration bill
like the absence of support by GOPers for Gonzales, the absence of GOPer support for bush's immigration bill was equally deafening. **cue the crickets**
does the cricket chirps signal the end of the bush "clout", has his political capital card been canceled?
what do you think? Bush is a PINO (president in name only)? or does he have a last throe left in him?

1. Like Social Security reform |
|
this bill was designed for bushes base - the haves and haves more. Like the Social Security issue it was designed to hurt Middle Class Americans and pay off corporations. If the bushes want it, you know it is dangerous for this country. Too bad so many Democratic leaders were conned into supporting this bill.

has been all along
previously the actual president - rove/cheney - could get stuff rubber stamped by moving his mouth.
now that is tougher
the nov 06 elections brought us all we could hope for - a deadlock - in which the juggernaut is slowed to a crawl. now we need to make it to '08
I still think there is life in the beast, and anticipate it lashing out at any time. Might be bombing somebody, might be rounding up protesters - who knows - but it will do something to show it isn't dead. If we're lucky, it will be spotted and stomped on before too much damage is done

He has our foolish democratic congress people pushing this bad bill through for him. Somehow they all serve the same master, and it isn't us.

5. He's Destroying His Party...Go For It, Georgie |
|
Besides turning a generation or two of Hispanic voters to the Democratic party, like they drove blacks to the Democrats 40 plus years ago by embracing the racist "Southern Strategy", this issue is pitting the racists and xenophobes against the big money and big business interests...with the money winning for now, but it will be at a price.
While people here may not believe it, but booooshie became a lame duck the day the Democrats took control of the House...as he lost his rubber stamp congress and no longer could push through the gravy train of no-bid contracts and other backdoor bills that he previously did. For example, those coveted tax cuts still aren't permanent...and without a vote, they will sunset in 2010...look for it to be an issue in the future, but a lost opportunity for the bushbots who had the vote to make it permanent last year but thought they could hold it off until now. Too late.
booooshie boy is far from impotent...he still holds all the cards in setting the agenda and operates outside the law. His mighty Wurlitzer still can crank up the noise and his henchmen are still inside our government putting political cronies above public service and fleecing the treasury. But this is a lot better than what was.
The endgame here is Repugnicans know how unpopular booooosh has become...especially in "purple" and blue areas and, as I predicted, are attempting to run away from all the bad crap and ignore booooshie (except when it come to taking money) in public and fear his ass in private. Democrats can't let these scumbags walk away from the damage they either participated in or abetted with their votes...while they pretend to disavow boooshie, his ugly war, screwed up economy and corrupt regime...we must work to keep reminding all that the problems were part and parcel of Repugnican "policies"...every single problem!!!
