Subject: Huckabee on women's private parts

This guy is just too weird.

Huckabee on fashion -- UPDATE (Arkansas Times)

Marie Claire (gals will know this magazine; I don't subscribe) has an interview this month with Mike Huckabee. Fashion comes up.

Q: I read that you're against miniskirts.

A: If a person dresses provocatively, they're calling attention -- maybe not the most desirable kind -- to private parts of their body.

Q: What about a burka?

A: No, that hides everything. I think a person's hair, arms, shoulders, legs are an appropriate display of who they are. I want people to be attracted to me because they find me interesting, not because I'm wearing something ... well, I doubt I own anything provocative.

Q: How about a miniskirt?

A: A thong.

2. There is a happy medium between dressing like Britney Spears and wearing a burka....
Edited on Wed Jun-13-07 11:48 AM by MookieWilson
Just as most women don't fit into the categories of 'good' or 'bad' sexually.

I'll admit to being a bit uncomfortable by the things young girls wear out and about these days.

16. Not an issue for a political campaign, however
Another distraction from the 27% crowd. Discuss anything but serious issues like Iraq, health care reform, jobs, education, national debt, etc.

3. This guys is always spitting out the weirdest stuff.
It's been enlightening seeing him in debates; I would never have paid attention to such a weird character otherwise.

6. I'll defend Huckabee here
Q: How about a miniskirt?

A: A thong.

He's an ass with a sharp sense of humor. I wouldn't want him for my president (or governor, or mayor, or representative), but I could enjoy a beer and a talk with a guy like him. I'll admit that him detailing what body parts are okay to display and which ones aren't is a little pervalicious. But then again, he's only expressing a personal preference, not proposing a national clothing law.

I do have to wonder if he refuses to take his family to the beach, where a great deal more skin is on display than with miniskirts.

13. "Kind of guy I'd like to have a beer with" is the thing that
got this country into so much trouble to begin with, about 7 years ago, unfortunately.

His response didn't make any sense.

Have a beer with him? Not me, thanks, nor would I recommend any woman of any age.

He's a creep.

why would anyone ask a presidential candidate about his opinion on women's clothes?

11. It further illuminates a narrative.
That narrative is that Huckabee is a religious fundamentalist with his eyes focused on the cross and the 50's.

So far he has declared that he doesn't believe in evolution, he won't give an answer to whether the world is 6,000 years old, he doesn't truly believe in global warming, and he thinks that women should not dress provocatively. His answers fit the profile for a man that distrusts science, lets religion taint his every view, and doesn't believe in gender equality.

He's a likable guy, but likable guys with insanely backwards views can be dangerous. The more stories like this that get out the better.

14. Joe Scarborough was all hot for Huckabee this am
on his morning show. He was giddy with praise. Said Huckabee is the "new evangelical"...or, rather, what evangelicals used to be before Falwell, Robertson, and Newt took over the religious right as a political force.
Scarborough went on and on about how Huckabee wants to fight poverty (didn't mention John Edwards...) and was presenting evangelicals in a caring, intelligent manner that just isn't understood by the mainstream media, who just can't "get" people of faith. Again, no mentin of John Edwards.
He showed Huckabee playing bass; and talked about what a Stones fan Huckabee is.
Yep. Huckabee is one cool cat. According to Joe.

Please allow me to introduce myself
Im a man of wealth and taste
Ive been around for a long, long year
Stole many a mans soul and faith
And I was round when jesus christ
Had his moment of doubt and pain
Made damn sure that pilate
Washed his hands and sealed his fate
Pleased to meet you
Hope you guess my name
But whats puzzling you
Is the nature of my game
I stuck around st. petersburg
When I saw it was a time for a change
Killed the czar and his ministers
Anastasia screamed in vain
I rode a tank
Held a generals rank
When the blitzkrieg raged
And the bodies stank
Pleased to meet you
Hope you guess my name, oh yeah
Ah, whats puzzling you
Is the nature of my game, oh yeah
I watched with glee
While your kings and queens
Fought for ten decades
For the gods they made
I shouted out,
Who killed the kennedys?
When after all
It was you and me
Let me please introduce myself
Im a man of wealth and taste
And I laid traps for troubadours
Who get killed before they reached bombay
Pleased to meet you
Hope you guessed my name, oh yeah
But whats puzzling you
Is the nature of my game, oh yeah, get down, baby
Pleased to meet you
Hope you guessed my name, oh yeah
But whats confusing you
Is just the nature of my game
Just as every cop is a criminal
And all the sinners saints
As heads is tails
Just call me lucifer
cause Im in need of some restraint
So if you meet me
Have some courtesy
Have some sympathy, and some taste
Use all your well-learned politesse
Or Ill lay your soul to waste, um yeah
Pleased to meet you
Hope you guessed my name, um yeah
But whats puzzling you
Is the nature of my game, um mean it, get down
Woo, who
Oh yeah, get on down
Oh yeah
Oh yeah!
Tell me baby, whats my name
Tell me honey, can ya guess my name
Tell me baby, whats my name
I tell you one time, youre to blame
Ooo, who
Ooo, who
Ooo, who
Ooo, who, who
Ooo, who, who
Ooo, who, who
Ooo, who, who
Oh, yeah
Whats me name
Tell me, baby, whats my name
Tell me, sweetie, whats my name
Ooo, who, who
Ooo, who, who
Ooo, who, who
Ooo, who, who
Ooo, who, who
Ooo, who, who
Ooo, who, who
Oh, yeah

27. This disgusts me. While I think current trends are vulgar,
I in no way think anyone, not me or Huckabee (I made a rhyme!) should be prescribing what parts of the body someone should consider showing when they get dressed in the morning.
