So what WAS that Censure Vote all about? If Subpoena's were going to be Issued? |
|
Anyone have any idea why that Censure Vote was so important to do on MONDAY if the both Senate and House Judiciary were going to issue subpoena's on Wednesday?
I don't accept that it was just to get the Repugs to show their cards. It wasn't necessary since they already knew the Repugs would vote not to Censure or have a Full Vote on Censure. And three Dems didn't even show up so they had to know the vote count. It made Dems look weak for trying and not succeeding and got the grass roots Dems angry.
Why do a vote that looks like a "stunt" when you are ready to issue subpoenas? Why not wait until the Bushies refuse to honor subpoenas and then do a Censure Vote?

2. Mostly all we are up to is stunts these days. |
|
We pulled a big stunt on funding the escalation. We have big stunt hearings that go nowhere. Threaten to issue subpoenas, and then don't issue them. Issue subpoenas and then do nothing when they are ignored. Put up big non-binding stunts like the censure, that even if they managed to get to a vote, meant absolutely nothing, but can't even get to a vote.
Stunts, it seems. But for whose benefit?

3. Stunt is a repuke term. |
|
They use that word as a talking point.
It is fine to be critical of our leadership. I wish they would get more done. But I hate to see any of us using their talking points.

4. Quack waddle and look: its a duck. |
|
Go ahead and declare those of us, myself included, who are mighty skeptical of the proceedings so far in this congress as tools of the republican party. If that makes you feel better about this nonsense, whatever.

5. I did not declare you a tool of the republican party. |
|
In fact, I was very polite to you.
I don't like to see any of us use their framing. For example, when I see DUers refer to partial-birth abortion, I question their use of republican framing.

6. As I said, this all looks like a bunch of meaningless stunts to me. |
|
Nonbinding resolutions that can't even get to a vote? What was that if not a stunt?
Voting against the war, once again with non-binding non-restrictions, before 'caving in' and voting another blank check to bush for not only more war, but an escalation of the war, stunt or not a stunt?

He might have said that but perhaps it was originated by Palingenius.
At any rate I disagree, and if there is any cutting going on, the bleeding is on our side.

11. I've seen it attributed to him, a quick Google shows I'm wrong |

I think it's too soon to say the result. It's only been a few months. The point is, expecting such quick results is silly. Desiring them is not though. There's no way to know the outcome this soon. I agree that it doesn't look good at this moment but I think the jury is still out on this.
So far the real action has been in the judicial system (take for example the case in the past couple of days regarding enemy combatants) and it moves notoriously slow. I tend to pay more attention to it than to the legislative system.

8. the only logical reason for is a feeling out for impeachment |
|
If the Repukes cant even vote on a non-binding vote on Gonzo, they wont be voting to impeach.

we need a much LARGER majority in the Senate and the House. I'm hoping that America agrees with me.
