2. If we were going to have someone who knows how to "act presidential"
for president - I want Morgan Freeman! At least when he acts presidential you have the feeling he gives a damn that we're all goin to hell in a handbasket.

5. This guy really scares me
Because the Cheney crowd is backing him.

I can just see Cheney appointing himself vice president again. Or I can see him appointing his wife as vice president. She is actually as evil as he is.

If the neo-cons like him, he has to be really bad news.

I also read somewhere that the religious right may be backing him also. Wonder why they would back him. He doesn't seem like the religious sort.

He is one to keep an eye on.

12. The religious right is desperate for a candidate right now
I don't think they'll back Thompson once they get to know him.

7. I didn't think * had a snowballs chance in hell before election '00
after seeing him debate Gore.

Thompson actually makes me nervous. He seems just the type the repugs would nominate, someone who they believe "look and acts" presidential.

10. I was very afraid of * here in Freeperville
Many people were talking about how * was such a downhome, fun guy that they'd love to have a beer with. :eyes: Here in Freeperville people talked about how folksy and regular he seemed especially compared to that wooden, boring Mr. Smarty Pants Al Gore :eyes:

Thompson isn't the least bit charming. He doesn't scare me at all.

8. It's his acting ability that has the RWer's all aflutter. He can act
like Reagan, who could act like a President. It's all window dressing. After all, they love it when Bush acts like a "common man".

9. The guy is the lobbyist's lobbyist.
Plus, he is drooling while thinking about getting privatizationon hands on social security dollars.

Want to rapidly widen the gap between the stinking rich and the middle class/poor, Fred's your man.

11. It's not the fairly conservative voting record that bothers me--
George Will called him "McCain without the heroism"--I expect that. It's the fact that he is the new neocon empty suit dreamboat, guaranteed to wage war in the ME until we're drafting teenage girls and begging China for just one more loan to pay for all the ensuing death and destruction.
