Made in China used to mean low quality junk. It still does. How many more recalls will it take to make Americans realize that all the CHEAP shit we get from China is exactly that shit? Another recall in the news, Thomas the Tank Engine toys for Lead Paint was made in China. http://www.orlandosentinel.com/business/kcpq-061307-trainrecall,0,5091200.story?coll=orl-business-headlinesAmerica is getting what it bargained for when it sent all its jobs to China and is buying all the junk and products from China.

1. But...they're saving so much money by buying it! |
|
And Wal-Mart is such a great American company, they treat their employees so good, and their presence does wonders for other businesses in the community.
And by buying cheap crap at Wal-Mart, we're helping the Chinese economy do well, so they can go out and buy lots of cars and compete with us for fuel.
What's not to love?
:sarcasm:
Every time I pass a Wal-Mart and see a foreign car pulling into the parking lot, I think "There goes a stupid, selfish person. They are too stupid to see what's going on."

2. With the new global economy, what is an "american" car... |
|
They use parts and factories in Mexico and sell the American car line. As to Walmart...it sucks, but is convenient in todays run-around world. Ask a busy mom of 1 or 2 children if she cares that she's stopping at Walmart to pick up a couple of groceries and a poster board project for the kid... she's been up since 5 packing everyone up, goes to work, picks kids up, runs errands, runs kids around for whatever, makes dinner, does some laundry, and then drops exhausted into bed at the end of the night only to say "not tonight, dear"...
In order to wake people up, you have to get them off the wheel. And as a mom, who is educated, but exhausted, its hard. Its more stops in a day to get the organic food and go to another store to do this or that, and then you've wasted gas, so what is better?
Walmart and foreign cars were not built over night and it will take a bit to break them back down or at least demand fair wages, benefits, and merchandise that is quality. Instead of fighting the closure, fight for changes on the inside... Unionize the damn store workers, and picket for better quality products.
