7. The entire Kennedy clan?
Sorry folks, but that description applies to a lot of entitled people. You have to be a Republican or a celebrity to be despicable.

9. i know, what were RFK and JFK thinking?
"entire" is probably in need of further qualification.

11. Wow, if JFK is a "bad Democrat", who are the good ones?
JFK was indeed wealthy, but you are the first non-Republican (and I am giving you the benefit of the doubt here) that I think I have ever heard say he was stupid, had poor judgment and couldn't read.

16. The description didn't say that the mystery person couldn't read or was stupid.
You might review the criteria.

As for bad judgment -- ever hear about the Bay of Pigs? And JFK was an early link in the chain of Presidents who committed us to Vietnam.

Surely you don't think JFK was perfect.

20. There is a lot of ground
Edited on Thu Jun-14-07 09:10 AM by DefenseLawyer
between what you said, that the "entire Kennedy clan, without exception" spent most of their lives drunk and didn't think or read, and saying JFK was perfect. The Bay of Pigs invasion plan was already in place when Kennedy took office. Yes he let it proceed, and he later took full responsibility for it. But you didn't say JFK made some mistakes, you said he spent much of his life "dissipated and lost". Does Robert Kennedy Jr. also leave the reading and the thinking to the suckups around him? You can have a beef with the Kennedy family, but you can't just yell "Bay of Pigs!" to justify such a broad ridiculous generalization. Well, then again, I suppose you can, it's a free country, sort of.

22. Okay. You win. JFK was not rich, not flawed, not the product of his family.
He had no political ties that promoted him quickly and painlessly. He never partied. He made no bad judgements. He never drank. He never surrounded himself with suckups, and he never delegated reading of information to anyone else.

Right?

12. Absolutely no discernable reason JFK was President or RFK was Attorney general
It isn't as if they were intelligent and competent or anything. I think someone here needs to do a little more reading or something..Wealth does not necessarily mean incompetence..

I'll agree that GWB makes JFK look like Jesus, but I've never been one to buy into any sort of relativism.

23. JFK and RFK were flawed, but some of these criteria don't apply to them
There were good reasons to elect JFK over Nixon as president in 1960. RFK was a damn good attorney general - his brother used good judgment in appointing him to that position. The Bay of Pigs was a disaster but facing down the Soviets over missiles in Cuba was probably good judgment. Fighting the mob and Hoover's FBI showed good judgment on both their parts - even though their dad had been involved with the mob. It sure made the mob and Hoover mad at the Kennedys - seems to indicate good judgment winning out over greedy cronyism.

JFK was known to read quite a bit - he didn't leave that to others.

There's no evidence that JFK spent much of his life drunk and partying. We now know that he was fighting a very serious illness.

So, I just disagree with your characterization of the entire Kennedy family as having been elevated "for no discernible reason," leaving the "thinking and reading" to others, spending *much* of their lives "drunk and partying, dissipated and lost," and having "poor judgemnt."

Just don't agree.

24. Well, let's put it this way:
The knuckledraggers could easily post the same sort of rebuttal about * and whether or not he fits all those criteria.

Personally, I found the OP to be silly, transparent, and totally useless. It was a nudge to indicate that only * fits those criteria, and I disagree.
