A sick paradox: Rich who are pro-poor are hypocrites, but poor cannot rise to leadership.
Okay, we know right now it takes money to get into political leadership in this country. However, whenever someone tries to adress the issues of the poor and middle class (See: John Edwards) they get bashed to hell and called hypocrites because they're wealthy themselves and maybe don't have a perfect record on issues of poverty.

If this is true, and it seems to me it is, then we'll never solve anything with regards to economic inequality and poverty because for change to begin, due to the system we all recognize needs to change, it has to begin with someone who is wealthy and likely has a less than perfect record on poverty, which apparently is not acceptable.

What do you think?

1. Nonono! Only people wearing rags and living in shacks can advocate for the poor.
Or so I've been told.

2. So, according to Republicans, rich people must be anti-poor?
Ah, how Christian.

3. To be fair..
Many progressives have also spoken against the rich democrats who advocate issues of inequality and poverty. I myself hate the fact that our country works that way, but I want change and sadly change, it seems to me, can only come from someone who will be wealthy. I wish some magical working class hero would rise up and help the poor, the uninsured, the struggled middle class, the working poor... but unless I am missing something the very system many of us want to change by definition won't allow that.

I am assuming change via elections, not revolutions or anything lik that.

6. "Many?" Besides on boards such as this, what is "many?"
Even in the blogosphere, I've seen very little of this, though I have some.

4. We'll never get anywhere if we let the RRRW frame the debate.
If we can't see beyond RRRW talking points, maybe we deserve our fate.

10. I've heard some of them actually have people cut their hair for them
...unlike us common folk who all use flowbees or a bowl and scissors to cut our hair.

11. Don't look too closely
Some say they're even wearing make-up that's professionally done for TV appearances! I just couldn't be like that. It's downright immoral!

13. Those same thugs accused FDR of being a "traitor to his class" in the '30's
The rich repunks are trying to tell us that all rich people are supposed to favor the upper class--or else!

Same shit, different era.
