1. It's illegal
Say goodbye to Sludge's web site if Moore sues him.

3. Knowing Moore he'll promote it. :D
I remember when Farenheit 9/11 was out in theaters, a few right-wing websites put links to it for watching, and Moore linked to their sites to get the word out.

Moore will only use this to his advantage because he's not as dumb as drudge.

4. Fail in terms of box office, maybe - but it won't fail to deliver it's message
Whether the person downloads it or goes to the theater.

I am revolted that the entire film is already "out there" before theatrical release - Moore screened it at Cannes & in California - how did a copy get on the net already?

:(

15. I think many people who will be downloading wouldn't go to see it in theaters in the first
Edited on Fri Jun-15-07 10:23 AM by OmmmSweetOmmm
place. This might backfire on Drudge as I understand wrongwingers who saw it at Cannes came up to Moore and thanked him for it. Health care affects Everyone in our country.

As to how it got on the net? I'm sure that Moore sent many screeners out for review and someone decided to take it someplace further.

5. anybody who knows how to use bit torrents will find it anyway...

7. No but the problem is this
HOSTEL part 2 was on the web 2 weeks before it was released and that why they feel it tanked at the box office. Frankly, I could care less about HOSTEL Part 2 but ALL FILMS need to be protected, even the ones we don't care about. This could really hurt the film and Drudge is intentionally sabotaging it. Matt said something on his radio show this past Sunday that he hopes SICKO is a bomb so they can gloat.

11. Hostel part 2 probably tanked because it's a gruesome stupid movie
I haven't seen it, but from it's trailers, it's just another body count horror flick.

14. They blame sharing for everything that isn't "supposed" to tank
Interestingly, Sci-Fi Channel's Battlestar actually did better during the initial miniseries following the mad sharing frenzy that ensued after its initial airdate in Europe.

16. How come the 1st movie did so well?
I agree, I think films like Hostel and Hostel 2 are sick films, but I don;t think they should be downloaded for free! This DOES hurt the film and I think SICKO is gonna be hurt BIG TIME by this. The wingers are already making a point to get the word out. They don;t want this film to make a penny. I hope Moore and the Weinsteins are aggresive. I think they should go after Drudge. Sounds like they are breaking the law!

13. it's a shit movie anyway
the one girl they killed off the first was the only character I liked. it was just mean. the gore they advertised was non-existent, and the only thing Eli Roth is good at is promoting himself as something he's not.

his movies never live up to the hype

6. good. I guess the man's too stupid to realize that
a - the sheep won't watch it anyway, and would not have bought it either, so it's not going to hurt ticket sales

b - perhaps someone who would have not gone to it will see it.

win:win

8. Drudge apparently doesn't comprehend the economics
Documentaries aren't major Hollywood releases. Their "box office" isn't measured in the billions or hundreds of millions, or even tens of millions. If a documentary makes a dime for its producers, it's considered wildly successful. When you're making a movie that isn't heavily dependent on expensive "talent" and "special effects," any viewing is good viewing.

Michael Moore's documentaries have achieved a certain level of success nearly unprecedented in documentary film-making, but Drudge's infantile website "stealing" a few viewers isn't going to matter a tinker's damn to either Moore or how much money his film makes.

12. We're definitely planning on seeing it
And we decided months ago that we were going to stop going to the theatres, because the prices are beyond ridiculous.

I'm also curious to see who shows up in my area, which is deeply red. The audience will probably be filled with the local hmo people crapping their collective undies.

9. Why does everyone assume that the vast majority
of people are on the net? They simply are not. Many have never been on the net, many more only get on the net at work, and some only at the library. There probably are more kids familiar with the net than adults.

10. Somebody capture the page with the link, to send to Moore's lawyers
Drudge can have his deepest wish - to be incarcerated with huge sweaty men who re-name him Madge and force him to wear Daisy Dukes with his fedora on a cowgirl string.

18. I keep hearing more liberals are online than conservatives
is that true? Also, most of the people going to the movie in the first place go because they either like Mike, respect his work or?? I have watched all his movies from the early days and will go and probably like others buy it afterwards.

And even if I could see it online I would still go...maybe like someone else said, just to see who shows up in my area to see it as only movie place nearby me is 40 min away in a red city...I am curious if they will even show it or if I have to go 3 hrs to Seattle.
