The Barney Frank Rule of Outing Gay Politicians
http://www.blogactive.com/

The Barney Frank rule of outing gay politicians as he explained it on Bill Maher:

"I think there's a right to privacy. But the right to privacy should not be a right to hypocrisy. People who want to demonize other people shouldn't then be able to go home and close the door, and do it themselves."

2. I would Out
I would out a gay closeted politician of either party. Of course most Democratic gay politicians are out.

Most of the radical outers do feel badly about the latest outing...Tancredo's young man...because he is only 18. Still they felt it necessary. I mean what was the boy doing working for the wrong side? A side that has factions so radically right they want to kill us.

3. That's why I'm so confused about log cabin Repugs
How can you possibly even remotely affiliate with people that, at times, directly advocate for rounding you up and killing you? At least be a libertarian if you must be conservative otherwise.

4. We Have Neighbors
Two of the nicest guys and they are frakking Log Cabins. I just don't get it. One of them is a CPA and I would assume he would say it's for fiscal reasons. I find that most offensive. Fiscal conservatives are just as bad because it all boils down to the same racism and insensitivity. When programs are cut by fiscal conservatives, who are affected? Minorities, women, children, the disabled, etc. ...same ol' same ol'. Fiscal conservative is just an excuse to be a Pig. I often want to confront them about it by my girlfriend says it's not that wise to confront people you have to live next door to...across the street actually. She's probably right. So I just get upset.

6. I agree with your girlfriend.
Plus, people are entitled to their opinions, however misguided they may be. It sounds like you are friends with them, so there's no good reason to spoil a friendship over politics.

Fiscal conservatives are somewhat necessary to have around. While I'm a fairly wildly fiscal liberal, balance is needed so as not to send our national debt through the roof. Guys like that bring us back to earth a little. So long as they're not spouting ignorant things like, "The Department of Education should be disbanded!" or "Welfare should be eliminated!", it's not horrible to be a fiscal conservative. I do agree that a good number of them are fiscally conservative because they know exactly who it will hit - minorities, women, children, etc. I don't think they're the majority, however. I find social conservatives to be far, far worse.

5. I look at it a different way.
In general, I tend to have a more strategic, less passionate take on a lot of things, and I think it helped me figure out what the Log Cabin Republicans might be doing. First and foremost, I think they are at base fiscal conservatives. But regarding LGBT issues, they may have subscribed to the idea that it's easier to get the Republican Party to stop using LGBT issues as wedge issues, thus neutralizing those political debates, than it is to get people who are conservative to vote for the Democratic Party (which would be difficult for fiscal conservatives to do in the first place).

7. I'm sure half of the people that have me on "ignore" know I ascribe to the strategic take.
But it's hard to be strategic over something that hateful. This is not to say you're wrong in your assessment - I think you're absolutely right, in fact. I just think it's a very flawed logical idea that you're going to convert or subvert someone that's this far gone. Not coincidentally, it's also why I've long advocated for the Democratic Party to use more resources in the midwest and west than in the south.

9. That quote alone represents my take in a nutshell.
I relish in the outings of gay-hating RWers all the time, and I have no regret, remorse, or reservations about it. They're not going to have their cake and eat it too, at our expense.

If they're not hurting us, I'll leave them alone. But if they are, then they're fair game, and I'll hound them to the depths of hell.
