8. It was David Spade's show on Comedy Central.
He had the last bit with Spade before the next program.

His rant was so amazingly ignorant and short-sighted. It was all based on the concept that we've seen only a 1.8 degree change in the average temperature over the past century, and 1.8 degrees isn't much. So what? It was classic Miller of late -- anything to pander to the right (he also endorsed Giuliani).

Miller's logic was similar to any none-thinking, immmature idiot. "I drive drunk all the time. Never had an accident or got busted yet." "Smoking in bed? It's only a problem if I fall asleep, and I don't."

He's hopeless.

24. Yeah, he believes it.
He's not as smart as he appears. When he used to do his talk show, I somehow stumbled onto his show when he was interviewing an Indian (from India) author about some subject Miller didn't like. Miller thought he could do his "cool" rant routine and fluster this young man. He was wrong -- the author tore him a new one because Miller was totally unprepared and not versed at all on the subject. It left Miller giggling, smirking, glancing at the camera, and looking like a boob.

So, does he believe global warming is bullshit? Probably, because he simply does not understand it.

Most of the Dennis guys I know are smart guys I guess that is the bad apple! I never ever thought the guy had any talent at all. The only person on SNL who was never funny. The only dud SNL ever had. Al Gore was better at being funny on SNL in one night, than Miller was in his entire time on there. A Dud at football...a dud everywhere he goes. He and Bush are just alike...DUDS!

Edited on Fri Jun-15-07 01:59 PM by Hubert Flottz
Held a preacher and his two daughters at bay right here in my living-room. He bowed up in the back and growled at them and they got the Daniel in the lion's den look. I told them I couldn't lock his jaws, but that I didn't think he was a shite eater! I told them that as long as they laid off of religion and politics they'd be safe...I hoped. They were too scared the rest of their visit to remember why they came. So it prolly worked out for the best.

Willy.

11. Kool Aid is normally measured in gallons rather than tons.
So that means he's swallowed approximately 1,250 gallons of it, so we can figure he's got about 23 empty 55-gallon Kool-Aid drums in his back yard. Unless he used 2,500 Kool-Aid Smiley Pitchers.

I wonder if he mixed it one package at a time?

Dennis Miller is a douche. Don't pay him any mind.

It just falls flat. Miller's whole thing was intellectualism as a mode of humor. When he was funny, which was a long time ago, he would whack his audience with references to high culture applied to the mundane world. Taking this act into the land of the stupid people, where science is suspect and the Good Book is the literal word (selected passages only) doesn't work.

That's just his material, he uses the exact same lines everywhere he goes, and he's been doing the "global warming is overrated" bit forever now. You could tell David Spade was annoyed both with the politics and mainly that he probably wanted to get a few more questions in or talk about SNL whatever and Dennis went into his prewritten nonstop nonfunny rant that we've all heard before.

CNBC's Dennis Miller on Iraqi prisoner abuse photos: "I like to trade them with friends"
In the opening "Daily Rorschach" segment of CNBC's June 8 edition of Dennis Miller, host and executive producer Dennis Miller said of the Iraqi prisoner abuse photos, "I like to trade them with friends."
From the June 8 edition of CNBC's Dennis Miller:
MILLER: I'm sorry, those pictures from the Abu Ghraib. At first, they, like infuriated me, I was sad. Then like, a couple days later, after they cut the guy's head off, they didn't seem like much. And now, I like to trade them with friends.
Miller's comments echoed radio host Rush Limbaugh's May 21 comments: "The media ought to start making some money off these pictures and videos, not just publishing them free. We need some prison torture, you know, bubble gum cards ... you know, like I say, we got baseball cards and bubble gum. Now let's have terror cards -- only let's show our prison abuse photos instead of the terrorists and who they are and what they do."

The Last Refuge of Goofy
Dennis Miller's Zionist Career Move
by ROSS VACHON
But, Dennis Miller had become so thorougly indecent he was putting the country at risk. Aided and abetted by a media that was playing along, just as they'd done in the Red Scare years.

Miller didn't just just need a break. He needed to break in a entire new act.

9/11 and Intifada II supplied it.

Dennis Miller would re-invent himself as a root-toot-a-tootin' Zionist crazyman. Use that rancid, smarmy whine on the Palestinians, the good-for nothing darkies. He'd leapfrog Ed Koch at scorning the French, clip Dick Morris at demeaning Queen Noor, and jump tall Germans with a single snotty remark. By this suck-up calculus, Miller thought he was really on to something. He knew he'd get the the hip squares, the garden-variety suits who could never do him any good. But, by being so openly foul, and racist, he also calculated it'd make real big men in the business take notice. Why, they'd piss in their Rick Pollack pants laughing, and let him write his own ticket this time! Shows, tours, concerts, movies, you name it! Nothing's too good for this high-wire cat! Right on, man! Mazel tov! Sweet. He could smell it.
Some months ago, a Jewish friend (Hollywood division), aware that the Middle East held some interest for me, emailed a Miller rant. Perhaps, he thought it had pizazz. A bilious screed, it bristled with Anti-Christ charity. Miller's points were fast & furious, filled with four interesting zionist facts:

1, The Palestinians had never existed. Their disinterest in white man nationalism had proved it. No flag, no people.

2. The Palestinians were rotten devils. Their brown-skin was a giveaway.

3. The Palestinians were insane liars. Their poverty and refugee status had compromised their ability to tell the truth.

4. The Palestinians are evil children who must be punished for their own good. Kill a few here and there, and the rest would scurry like rats.

Miller had outdone himself. Proof of it, the screed reached #1 on the Jewish yahoo pass-it-around email circuit. Across the Net, every Ira, Glick, and Larry was hailing it as the greatest thing since Baruch Goldstein had mowed down all those Palestinians kneeling in prayer.

A word here to clarify: Doubtless, there are many Jews who've been equally repulsed by Dennis Miller's rabid zionism. His incontinent squeals put Pat Robertson to shame. His racist rants leave a bad taste in a lot of people's mouths. A growing number of Jewish-Americans resent the fact that Israel's crimes are being committed in their name. There are many schisms in the Jewish community now, and the widest is the one between those who care about all humanity, and those whose concept of Never Again! means Never Again!, only with respect to the Jews. Miller panders to the latter.

A craven neurotic named Dennis Miller. A racist zionist posing as an All-American boy. A phony patriot whose lies are beneath contempt.

Miller permeates the lies the Israeli Government tells so they can escape accountability for starving families, demolishing homes, humiliating pregnant women, and shooting children in the back. He exploits Americans' traditional ignorance of lands beyond our shores. His jokes don't buoy our spirit, they rot it. Every Freedom, Liberty and Moral Value Americans have fought and died for, Dennis Miller pisses on. And, all in the vain hope, it would jump-start a schmucky comedy career. A career with a bacterial shelf-life of minus and counting.

Edited on Fri Jun-15-07 02:45 PM by WilliamPitt
He was still sort of entertaining and peripherally current...but the awesome calamity on display through several grinding Monday evenings, the train wreck in the announcer's booth, his complete failure and national shaming...he snapped, went for the money, and decided that catering to a smaller audience comprised of loyal blockheads offered more career security (and an easier day at the office) than trying to win back the larger, smarter, far more fickle audience he once had in his hip pocket.

See: Sellout, Coward, Failure, Sad.

51. But you would think that they could make it at least FUNNY!
I wouldn't mind some good jokes on us libs, but geeze, they just want to make stuff up and rant.

If one is a comedian, make jokes!

It must really suck to be unable to get a gig in Branson.

Is he still doing gigs at various Ramada Inn cocktail lounges?

59. Charo is incredibly talented
Behind the cuchi-cuchi and crowd-pleasing bubblehead act, she is one of the greatest guitarists in the world, and was a student of the late Andrés Segovia.

Miller isn't even fit to lick the mud from the soles of her shoes.

As good, you ask, as Clapton?

Yes.

Hers is a different style, but she is a master of her art.

Wikipedia has some background:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Charo

If you like virtuoso guitar playing, get some of her stuff and give it a listen.

58. Thinking about Dennis Miller makes me sick.
Watching Dennis Miller Live during the Clinton years was an important part of my own political development (seriously). People forget that for a time, there, ('93-'95) Miller's show was the rough equivalent of what the Daily Show was in 2003/2004 (which is one reason I cringe whenever I think of the now eerie appearance Jon Stewart made on DML in 1996, to talk about Stewart's then-struggle to quit smoking). I actually bought, with my own money, at age 15, the transcribed copy of "The Rants" Miller put out in '96, and memorized them.

When I look at him now? "(L)ike another fall of man."

60. I didn't forget!
I actually saw a Dennis Miller "in concert" show back in 1990. I don't remember him being very political back then, and as a matter of fact he seemed liberal to me if anything. I saw him on the Showbiz Show and the conversation didn't have anything to do with politics, but Dennis just had to shoehorn in his non-funny global warming and AL GORE jokes.

He seemed a little desperate-ish, and the message was not too well recieved by anyone there.

79. I think he even made a dismayed sort of sound.
But that might have been from me.

I still think Miller can be a funny guy, and saying so is heresy here :-) but the fact remains that the one true comedy killer is straying from reality and the truth.

Spade's show is turning out to be a great and funny refuge for all things jaded. I think it's been shaping up really well.

73. I think he's too proud to admit he was wrong, so now he amps it up even more.
When he first came out as a Bush-lover, he claimed to still be an "independent" but that he thought Bush was right about cleaning up the Ay-rab world for our protection.

But now it seems like he's using his tortured jokes and obscure pseudointellectual references to to push every GOP meme under the sun. His behavior is that of a person who realizes that he was dead wrong, but is too stubborn and prideful to admit it so he's gone even more vehemently right-wing.

His appearances on that sad Daily Show knockoff truly reek of desperation.

86. He crossed the line and sold out to the neocons immediately after 9/11
when he made fun of Reagan and Bush I in the 1980s and early 90s, it was satire. When he made fun of Clinton all through the 90s, it was satire.

But to suddenly now decide that its not his place to mock and belittle those in power? That's not satire. Its not even comedy. Its called being a court jester.
