What are we going to do about this CRAP -------> ?????
Lies, Lies and more lies - do we let them get away with it?

Dear Jennifer,

Harry Reid doesn't understand that there are some lines you just don't cross.

It was bad enough when he said "this war is lost." It was bad enough when he brought bill after bill to the Senate floor trying to force us to surrender Iraq to the terrorists. It is bad enough that he has declared the President's new strategy in Iraq a failure, even though our military leaders say that we won't know the true results until September.

But now Reid has simply gone too far. During an interview with liberal bloggers, he called Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Peter Pace "incompetent." He made similar comments about General David Petreaus, the man leading our troops in Iraq.

There is room for him to express reasonable disagreement about our path forward in Iraq. But to attack our military is unacceptable. To attack General Petraeus, the man actually leading our troops on the ground, is reprehensible. And to call General Pace, a man who has served our nation for his entire adult life with honor and distinction, 'incompetent' is beyond the pale.

Why would Reid attack our men and women in uniform? One simple reason: to play catch-up with the fringes of his liberal base. The far left was furious that President Bush held firm and successfully forced Democrats in Congress to pass a clean war funding bill last month. Now, the Democrats have to make up ground with their extreme base.

There's nothing wrong with a healthy political debate about Iraq. But playing politics with our troops' lives and insulting the professional military leaders who are trying to bring those men and women home safe and victorious is just too much. Contact your Congressman and Senators. Urge them to reject Harry Reid's attacks on our military, and to trust our men and women in uniform as they continue to fight to keep the American people safe.

Sincerely,

Robert M. "Mike" Duncan
Chairman, Republican National Committee

1. Well, be fair. If we stopped Republicans from lying
that would have the effect of totally silencing them.

2. My first instinct would be to ignore them; Reid didn't even mention troops. Next, I'd
consider Reid a hero for being truthful, since it's in such short supply in the GOP.

3. Why they get away with these lies over and over again is beyond me.

5. What do you want me to do?
I would scream and yell and pop a couple wheelchair wheelies with a snotty sign out front of the RNC headquarters or I could waste a perfectly good phone call to Rush "boil on my ass" Limpballs and hope he lets me defend Harry on the air. The fact is, Harry has the national spotlight and don't need me to defend him - and hauling my wheelchair to the RNC headquarters ain't gonna make them start telling the truth. These people are just not ever going to be reality based.

6. Oh, bullshit. ANY "healthy political debate about Iraq" amounts to "not supportin' the troops"
to you chuckle-fucks.

But guess what. MOST AMERICANS WANT THIS WAR TO END. Just like with a woman's right to choose, which MOST AMERICANS SUPPORT, you are WAY OUT OF THE MAINSTREAM, "Mike".

Far more so than the "extreme base" of the Democratic Party. :hi:

14. It's not a war, it's an attempt to play referee in a civil war that we
unleashed/fomented and we don't have a clue as to what to truly do about it.

7. It's a little thing, but very effective actually: talk about this at the water cooler.
There are many who only hear the talking points and when you explain the real issues behind them are not only grateful but shocked they didn't get the whole story.

It worked to turn the tide against the occupation of Iraq and it can work today.

Just open one mind and that may open another--or more.

13. How about trusting people to be reasonable or face the consequences.
Edited on Fri Jun-15-07 06:41 PM by JDPriestly
I know. You don't want to face the consequences because other people are unreasonable.

So volunteer to register voters with your local Democratic Party organization. Organize some friends, take your voter registration forms and go to the nearest farmer's market. Set up a table. Copy some articles that you like on the issues you want to discuss. Or if, in your state you are not allowed to discuss politics while registering voters, leave the voter registration effort for another day and take your articles. Talk to voters. Show your colors. Reach out. That is how you deal with Republicans in a democratic manner. Just be sure you take someone with you so no one beats you up -- and don't get physical. Talking to voters is a lot of fun.

If you have a favorite candidate you can canvas your neighborhood right now. Just take some brochures and start knocking on doors. SMILE!!! Offer your hand for a handshake. Tell your neighbors: "I'm ____ your name _____. I live on _____ Street or Avenue. There will be an election -- in January 2008 or whenever. I want to make sure you register to vote in time and vote. I'm supporting such and such a candidate because -- I think he or she is the best qualified for the job because ________. Here is some information on my candidate. I hope you will consider supporting him/her also." LISTEN TO WHAT YOUR NEIGHBOR SAYS. DO NOT INTERRUPT NO MATTER HOW LONG THEY GO ON. You cannot expect others to listen to you unless you listen to them. If he or she is a Republican, just SMILE, be cordial and say. I hope you will check out my candidate -- give him/her a chance. I hope to talk to you again. If the other person gets nasty, just smile and say, "I guess we will just have to agree to disagree. I guess that is what freedom is all about. Anyway, I enjoyed hearing your point of view." You may be surprised how sincerely you do enjoy hearing their point of view. After all, the more you listen, the better you can anticipate their arguments next time.

Today, more than anything, people, especially Conservatives, need the chance to be heard. No matter how wrong you believe they are, smile, look them in the eye, treat them with respect. That is the beginning of a dialog. When people feel respected they become open to new information -- and possibly to change. It takes time. Continue to treat them with respect -- and even love -- no matter how much you disagree with them. They may never come to agree with you. But some might. And at least they will understand that you are not evil because you have not swallowed the MSM and Bush propaganda. Besides, you will have the rewarding feeling that you are doing something besides just screaming about the terrible situation of our country.

I've done this a lot. I've gone to farmer's markets, supermarkets and walked precincts -- three in the two days before the 2004 election. I love doing this. The secret is to listen to the other person.
