Fred fucking THOMPSON? They're joking, right?
They really think that jowly old blowhard could be elected President of the USA? Spare me.

Let's hope that they, and he, are serious. That would be fun to watch.

but the point is I reached that conclusion BEFORE I opened the book. Was driving to the bookstore to get some books for hubby and decided to finally get Gore's book.

It was one of those, seating at the red light, bag of briks falls on head, THUD!

The first one I had was when he was explaining the brain's activity while watching tv vs. reading. It made so much sense.
My boys are now REQUIRED to read for at least 50% of the time they watch TV per day.

I ain't gonna raise no dummies. :P

45. LOL
it is funny, over the last few years my tv viewing has gone down significantly

These days the food channel (did I mention I hate cooking) when I need to put my brain on non thinking mode, K. Oberman, the Daily Show and the Corbet Report

I was shocked, my total TV viewing time is about three hours on a bad day, far less otherwise...

But, I spend way too much time on the web

Just about everything/everybody they take seriously, we (quite reasonably) regard as jokes.

There's George Bush, of course.
And Duncan Hunter.
And Mitt Romney.
And Tom Tancredo.
And Tom Delay.
And Cornyn, Coburn, Santorum, and Ted "Tubes" Stevens ()

Everything they do is funny, in a really horrible way.

at least TRY to seem humbled and contrite, and offer a genuinely qualified, reasonable, substantial, non-RW-nutcase candidate this time around to make up for all of the sins committed. Instead, we simply get a better-spoken GWB--no matter which assclown they nominate. All the same.

60. How ironic for the "family values" party to run an old
geezer with Hollywood connections and a trophy wife. When Reagan divorced Jane Wyman, at leasts he replaced her with someone from his generation. This is ludicrous. In that get-up Mrs. Thompson looks like she's headed to lingerie night at the Playboy mansion.

I find it odd in some ways that this guy is getting pimped so much by the msm, and some are thinking he has all these great qualities. Whatever, always have to keep the telegenic(?) factors in mind, Romney has much more of that imho, but gosh what an idiot. How did the state of Massachusetts of all states ever elect him?

34. Down here in Australia in today's paper there is an article
about Thompson running and they REAAALLLY emphasize how similar he is to Reagan and how that is what is what Republican voters are looking for right now etc. etc. etc. It was a very supportive article.

The same paper, The Australian, also had a chapter from Carl Bernstein's book about Hillary. It seemed pretty obsessed about Bill's sex life.

Pitiful IMO.

55. You know, I think Tweety is gay and doesn't know it.

Straight men just don't gush over other men like he does. Not in my experience, at least. The way he talked about the socks stuffed in Bush's jumpsuit, for example, saying women would like that. I'm a woman and I thought he looked like he was wearing a diaper. Not sexy at all. Now he's talking about how good Fred smells?

He also gushed over Gore's concession speech and, IIRC, it was the "what a manly guy" bit again.

wasn't so freaking bad. Thompson looks good only because they are all shooting themselves in the foot daily.

I agree with Chimpsaresmarter: Right now Thompson is a novelty. It remains to be seen how he fares in a real campaign. I've heard Thompson is a bit of a lazy primadonna. Not great qualifications for a run for President.
