Talk Radio is Ruining America
http://www.crooksandliars.com/

Comments by Republican senators on Thursday suggested that they were feeling the heat from conservative critics of the bill, who object to provisions offering legal status. The Republican whip, Trent Lott of Mississippi, who supports the bill, said: “Talk radio is running America. We have to deal with that problem.”

I see. A far-right senator believes the “problem” with the policy discourse is far-right radio for a far-right audience.

Keep in mind, this wasn’t a stray comment for Lott, who seems to have been thinking about this. The other day, the WaPo quoted Lott saying, “I’m sure senators on both sides of the aisle are being pounded by these talk-radio people who don’t even know what’s in the bill.”

You mean right-wing blowhards like Limbaugh can rile up a large audience based on nothing but demagoguery? And that conservative audience will bombard Hill offices with whatever they last heard on the radio?

Welcome to our world, Trent.

Trent Lott is a helmut-haired whiny hypocrite liar.

"Talk radio is running America" Not going your way Trent, not used to playing on a playing field not tilted in your favor?

Kettle, pot on line 2.

9. the immigration issue is good for us
we should not pass the bill until we have a democrat president,

what we SHOULD DO however, is bring up the bill time and time and time and time again and get lott and the other neocon (there is a difference) republicans to bash their conservative base - who made a deal with the devil and elected these guys-, this will creat a republican civil war leaving us to win elections.

10. I think Katrina was an epiphany for Trent Lott
He's sworn a vendetta against the insurance companies he one time represented. Somehwere in there, there's both a heart and a decent man.

12. I didn't like the immigration bill either. And I'm not a right-wing nut.
I think overall it would cost billions and another bureaucracy that is run by people just doing their jobs with a system that ends up failing. And anything the chamber of commerce supports, means I'm intrinsically against it. Has anyone read the crap they publish. The co I work for gets an on-line version... I swear Georgie and co. write the thing themselves.

14. Then SurelyTrentt Will Be In Favor Of Looking At DeReg '96
This is the bill that turned your radio and TV over to the large corporates...the very ones that operate the hundreds of stations that trash Lott right now. Most are owned by Clear Channel or some other major GOOP contributor...so we know how far this would go with Mr. Helmethair.

18. In other words, the country would be better served if...
... Radio and TV talking heads stuck to subjects like Paris Hilton, who won yesterday's big game, and which celeb is shacking up with which other celeb. It's mindless drivel, but better that kind of mindless drivel than ignorant hate-mongering. I think we should all encourage MORE reporting on celeb scandals and sports contests rather than less.
