S. Phila. man finds that his dinner rattles him ( A Snake's Head)
A South Philadelphia man said he got quite a surprise when he sat down to eat his chicken dinner Wednesday night: There was a snake's head amid the vegetable course.
Earl Hartman said he found the inch-long head in the middle of his green beans, between a chicken breast and buttered noodles. The head had come out of a can of green beans, he said.

"When I sat down, I noticed something didn't look right," Hartman told NBC10. Hartman said he called the Pathmark store where he bought the beans and got a call back from Seneca Foods in upstate New York, where the vegetables were canned.

Rich Savner, a spokesman for Pathmark Stores Inc., confirmed that a customer reported finding a "foreign substance" in a can of green beans, but said officials had not determined what it was. The store conducted spot checks of other cans, but nothing out of the ordinary turned up, Savner said. Similar cans were removed from the shelves as a precaution

1. That is so wrong, on many levels.
I'm glad they removed the other relevant cans (I'd start by inspecting certain cans of various date stamps/codes AND removing ALL cans of the identical date stamp/code.)

Fortunately, as most stores' clerks are too stupid to understand FIFO, no doubt all those cans were up front and therefore newer, indicating a recent problem... (Don't you hate it when you see the freshest cans up front? I don't, but it saves me the time of looking around to compensate for an employee who's supposed to stock shelves using the FIFO principle... But I'm overqualified to get such a job and their computer thinks I'm too introverted anyway, so why should I care? Or anybody else without going into needless detail; some people know how to look in the first place. That makes such people a danger... :spray: )

2. No one wants to see "snakes eyes," whether at the craps table or dinner table...

Really though, I glad the man found this object in time, although I'm sure that doing so put the kibosh on his dinner plans...

on edit: I could see the headline now: "Food Bites Man."
