The Dems have to lose their "woe and betide" attitude |
|
about measures in Congress, and begin to woo moderate Repubs to join them in making policy. It's the only way we're going to win anything. As more and more Repubs distance themselves from GWB, that should be easier than they think.
If an issue compromise makes perfect sense, I am sure many repubs would vote for it, if given the opportunity. Instead, the members of Congress have adapted this "us against them" stance which hurts them a lot. We're stuck with many of these repub assholes for a while, and if we are to pass any kind of change, we need their cooperation.

2. I thought that too, but look at the Gonzo no-confidence vote. 7 Repub Senators for cloture. |
|
That's it. Should have been a low-risk no-brainer, but there is a stranglehold on these GOPers coming from the leadership. Same with the Iraq funding bill (the first one, in March)--NON-BINDING GOALS to start to wind the war down, which Bush could have easily ignored or bypassed. Very reasonable/flexible bill. 2 GOP Senators voted for it. That's it. I am all for bipartisanship to get things done, but Repubs are rallying around dear leader (except on immigration) for a false show of unity--there is no reason here, no consideration about what is best for the country--just concern for political advantage and appearances. We're fucked.

3. We need to discredit Republicanism |
|
So that people will finally recognize that their philosophy is to destroy all the things people keep electing them to do. Then they'll either have to change or get thrown out.

and that's why I have said in several posts that we can't let the RePukes keep framing the Bu$h admin screw ups as simple incompetence. We MUST get the message out that its their ideology that is wrong, its Republicanism that doesn't work and is causing the failures.
