'His unilateral warmongering could lead to a new World War III.' (LieberBush)
Party head lambastes Lieberman on Iran By Peter Urban 12 Jun 2007 Connecticut for Lieberman Party Chairman John Orman called Tuesday for Sen. Joe Lieberman to resign, saying his advocacy of a military strike against Iran could explode into a global conflict.

"He has crossed the line," said Orman, a professor of politics at Fairfield University. "His unilateral warmongering could lead to a new World War III."

During an appearance on "Face the Nation" on CBS Sunday, LieberBush said the United States should consider a military strike against Iran because of Tehran's (*alleged*) involvement in Iraq.

"If we let them get away with this they will continue to move throughout the region and if we think we are going to have a prayer of a chance to stop them from developing nuclear weapons, it's not going to happen unless they take us seriously," LieberBush said.

Orman, a former Democrat, switched party affiliation and took over the Connecticut for Lieberman Party earlier this year. Lieberman created the party last August to run for re-election as an independent after losing the state's Democratic primary to Ned Lamont of Greenwich. However, LieberBush never joined the new party and remains a registered 'Democrat.' :puke:

1. Iran is soooo ungrateful! After all, we invaded because Iraq was a threat to its neighbors!
Right? :eyes: :puke:

We're wallowing in a cesspool of falsehoods ... the diarrhea from the fascist right and its enablers.

2. Much appreciated by me and many other DUers I'm sure
I posted a Diary at Kos yesterday that was on the recommended list for most of a day, so maybe you already saw it:

"We Are Losing the Fight Over Iran'
http://www.dailykos.com/story/2007/6/15/133035/232

You might enjoy reading it if you haven't already, plus the rather long discussion it sparked off. Anyway, my point in mentioning it here now is that on the discussion thread that followed, two posts were made, complete with links to graphic representation, announcing two great new free buttons that can be ordered on the theme of stopping Libermans push for war with Iran.

Here are the direct links to the posts that have the two buttons. Here is the first:

And here is the second:

3. Why are the same people who wanted an Iraq War now targeting Iran?
Edited on Sat Jun-16-07 02:52 PM by jackbourassa
"How many times do you have to get hit in the head before you realize who is hitting you..."
- Harry S. Truman.

It seems kind of strange to me. That the same people who bullied us into war against Iraq, and who continue to support escalation and a permanent presence there, are the same ones who now want to go to war against Iran.

You would think that these people would be the ones most opposed to beginning a new war against a new enemy. Why? Because it would ultimately undermine the war they so strongly believe in. After all, if the majority of the population of Iraq are Shi'ite Muslims with strong affinity and connections, religiously speaking, to the clerics of Iran, wouldn't it stand to reason that this group would become openly hostile to American interests IN IRAQ if we were to escalate the war into Iran? Have any of these genius' from Joe Lieberman, Dick Cheney and the neo-cons ever given ANY THOUGHT to this scenario?

I believe that this latest episode of pro-war chest thumping by the likes of Joe Lieberman and neo-conservatives only demonstrates what I have suspected for a long time now. That these people have no clue what they are doing and sold to the American people a war in Iraq which they have no idea (or intention) of winning. When those of us speak of ending the war, they respond by saying that we must not "cut and run" and must fight on until "victory." Yet every action or comment they make assures that "winning" in Iraq (whatever that might be at this point) will never happen.

Has it been lost on people that THE REASON Iran is thumbing its nose at convention and the rest of the world right now is because the US is stuck in the quicksand that is this Iraqi quagmire? And these same "foreign policy experts" rehash their pro-war mantra, this time against Iran, while simultaneously dismissing any suggestion of withdrawing or pulling back troops from Iraq?

There are now major simultaneous crises erupting from Palestine to Pakistan. President Pervez Musharraf faces a growing revolt, while much of the country's tribal border regions have come under the control of forces allied with Afghanistan's Taliban. Al Qaeda, which continues to enjoy the protection of its allies in Pakistan, and has made the US military occupation in Iraq its primary recruiting ground, has benefited from the backlash in the Middle East against Washington's policies. Iran continues to defy Washington's demand that it halt its nuclear enrichment program. Then there was the complete take over of the Gaza Strip by Hamas, who won the election last year that the US promoted.

The people in the whole region are growing tired of US blunders there. Saudi King Abdullah is said to have grown disillusioned with the Bush Administration even before this major setback in Gaza. According to former Bush-appointed Ambassador David Kurtzer, "there's a strongly held view among our Arab friends that we don't know what we're doing."

Meanwhile Washington hawks continue to be stuck with this mentality that America's military is THE ONLY solution to any problem that should arise. They completely disregard any lessons that may (or more probable) may not have been learned in Iraq.

If the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again, expecting a different result. Then our leaders in Washington are fucking nuts!

Because forget being hawks, these people are moving into Dr. Strangelove territory.

WAKE UP AMERICA!!!!
