New Hampshire has joined the list of states where a resolution in support of the impeachment of Bush and Cheney has been introduced in the state legislature. The list includes 12 states: New Hampshire, Vermont (where the resolution passed in the Senate), New Hampshire, Texas, Washington, New Mexico, Missouri, Minnesota, California, Illinois, Wisconsin, Hawaii, and Maine. Similar resolutions have been introduced in a great many cities and towns and have been passed by at least 79 of them. At least 15 state Democratic parties have passed such resolutions as well.

Impeachment bid unsuccessful
By Kevin Landrigan

Published: Friday, Jun. 15, 2007

State Rep. Betty Hall (D-Brookline) failed on Monday in her bid to get a resolution endorsing the impeachment of President Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney before the New Hampshire Legislature.

Two Democratic colleagues, Newmarket Rep. Marcia Moody and Strafford Rep. Robert Perry were backing Hall’s request that all rules be suspended to let this matter come up in the waning weeks of the 2007 legislative session.

But the House Rules Committee voted unanimously to turn down Hall’s request. About 10 people led a silent vigil in support of the resolution, wearing pink signs that simply read “Impeach.”

Impeachment resolutions have been proposed to legislatures in 11 states this year. None of them have passed. The Vermont Senate approved one in April but the state’s House of Representatives rejected it a few weeks later.
