McConnell: We've given Iraq a tremendous OPPORTUNITY to be a normal country!
Edited on Sun Jun-17-07 09:38 AM by Bluebear
On Face the Nation just now.

"The Iraqi government has been a big disappointment. We've given them the OPPORTUNITY over the last four years to be a normal country."

On what will happen after the summer if the "surge" fails, will Republicans abandon bush's war? "I won't respond to a hypothetical like that."

30. I have seen this coming for two years ...
It is the natural evolution ...

They blamed the "liberals" for not having the spine to stick it out, and emboldening the enemy, then the media for not showing the good things that were happenening ... But, as the majority of the public starts to wake up, they lose those straw men, so the only group left to blame are the Iraqis ...

For FREAKIN sure, it won't be the republican's fault ... Clinton, Hollywood, the media ... Everyone else but them ...

... when you have "freedom & democracy?"

The people who started this war need to be in jail
what happened and is still going on in Iraq is death
and evil on a massive scale.

4. I guess it depends on what he considers "normal"
Edited on Sun Jun-17-07 09:50 AM by DFW
McConnell probably considered Cambodia under the Khmer Rouge "normal."
By that standard, OK, Iraq is positively sedate.

Some standard, though..............

5. Apparently a country can only become "normal" after we blow it up,
and kill hundreds of thousands of innocent natives. :eyes:

And, Mitch, it's not a 'hypothetical.' It's a likely outcome. Not acknowleging or responding to stuff like that is what got us in this mess.

24. It is the DLC's line, as well
I believe that Hillary was saying something to this effect recently.

"Clinton had tough words for the Iraqi government, which she said has failed repeatedly to deliver on its promises.

"I'm skeptical that the Iraqi government will do what they have promised to do, and that I think is the concern of all of us who have heard this before," she said. "All the promises, and intentions in the world don't substitute for action and we haven't seen a lot of action."

Clinton traveled wearing body armor and surrounded by a phalanx of soldiers and security guards. The level of security, she noted, was much higher than her first visit to Iraq back in 2004. "

http://abcnews.go.com/International/IraqCoverage/story?id=2792632

So blaming the Iraqis has become bipartisan. In fact, almost everything "bipartisan" coming out of our government over the last few years have been RNC/DLC. Guess who is always left out in the cold?

26. Wait, now I'm cornfused - doesn't he watch Faux News?
I thought it was normal in Baghdad, like when McCain (the cheap bazturd) strolled through the market and bought a $4.00 rug and the Congressbobble from Indiana said it reminded him of an outdoor flea market at home?

I thought the surge was working & there were happy, smiley Iraqis with purple fingers going about their daily business? I thought the elected officials were deploying well-trained Iraqi forces to maintain security in an even-handed fashion?

I mean, why would the US build a $300 million dollar embassy mansion in an abnormal area? I mean, we knew there were a few bad apples in their government dying & leaving to get medical care & a few renegade Iraqi citizens trying to leave the country, but I thought like Basra was so normal the Brits could leave! Am I missing something? :wtf: :sarcasm:

...then he has a real 'opportunity' to make some changes in how he does things...right?
IF he survives the arrival of the opportunity, that is...:sarcasm:

And NOLA has a 'real opportunity' to re-build and clean up the place too...:sarcasm:
:banghead:

I'm curious to know how much head-spinning a politician/pundit can commit before the spinal cord gives out the head falls off- bumpity bumpity bump down the stairs...

edit for punctuation clarity
