Gay Pride in Rome: reactions from the Vatican...
...against some flags ("More freedom, less Vatican" according to BBC) and slogans.

With all my respect, Gentlemen from the Vatican, that's what you get in entering politics: democratic demonstrations against.
Get used to it.

6. The church of Milan...
...showed very different attitudes and spent words much different on the subject, asking the catholic community not to shut its eyes before the new models of family in the contemporary society. I'm talking of Card. Tettamanzi and mostly of whow I hoped it was to become new Pope (with few hopes, indeed): Card. C.M. Martini.

To love and be close to people first: be they married or not, gay or not...That's what you read between the lines of their words.

But I haven't read anything more on the subject from them since long. I wonder if Rome asked them to shut their mouth...

3. The Catholic Church has one of the best, if not the very best,
charitable arms in the entire world.

There are a ton of anonymous Catholic people doing charity work in many different roles all over the place.

Opus Dei is not my cup of tea at all, and the various encyclicals are barked down from the Vatican porch without sensitivity or compassion. I'm not talking about those aspects of the Church.

It would be enormously helpful if the next Pope stood on that same porch and said, "Well, hell. We've looked again at the New Testament accounts of Mary Magdalen, and we think we can graft her significant contribution to the ministry of Jesus onto the apostolic succession thing, and voila, it's fine from this point forward if women are priests. If Mary Magdalen can contribute as she did to the ministry of Jesus, then women henceforth should be encouarged and welcomed in their wish to contribute to the modern-day flock."

Next, they need to stay out of the sex lives of LGBTQ folks all over the world.

And not least, they should continue their charitable work.

What a difference that small handful of changes would make in the public perception of the Vatican.

8. Hi, demoleft. I hold out hope that the next Pope can put
a little common sense and compassion into the notion of women-as-priests and lesbian and gay rights.

So far the current Pope doesn't seem all that fluid.

4. Look back into history
at the Inquisition - murderers

They always wanted to control the lives of people - what gives them the right?

5. To be fair, the Church of Rome has trouble dealing with such issues because
there are no gays in its hierarchy.

And bears don't shit in the woods.
