NBC's Brian Williams says he is in the "terrorism" business.

NBC’s Brian Williams admits being part of the “terrorism business”
By Bev Conover
Online Journal Editor & Publisher

snip

Accompanying Bloomberg on his daily subway trip, with two police bodyguards, from Gracie Mansion to City Hall, Williams questioned the mayor about the vulnerability of the subway system to terrorist attacks. Bloomberg noted that he would ride four subway trains that day and had no qualms doing so, going on to say that one was more likely to be hit multiple times by lightning than become a victim of a terrorist subway attack.

That’s when Williams, demurring, prefaced his concerns with “we in the terrorism business.”

“We in the terrorism business?” Was that an admission that corporate media journalists are in bed with Washington’s terrorism propagandists?

Williams has certainly done his share of playing the fear card. Along with many of his corporate media colleagues, he has dutifully hammered away on every ridiculous alleged “terror plot” authorities claimed to have thwarted. Never mind that when the truth finally came out there was no there there.

IMHO, The corporate media whores like Williams and his colleagues aren't so much in bed with the terrorism propagandists as embedded with them.

The War on Consciousness

By Paul Levy

SNIP

The private interests that control our government have an incredible mind-control/propaganda machine at their disposal in the form of the mainstream media, which if not quite fully owned and controlled, is certainly under their “influence” enough to serve their underlying self-serving agenda. George Orwell once said that omission is the greatest form of lie – this perfectly describes the corporate owned media of today which is nothing other than the propaganda organ of the state. The corporate world and our government are becoming indistinguishable, which is one of the hallmarks of fascism, or more accurately – corporatism.

In addition to information, our government is adept at putting out dis-information, whose intention is to create distractions and confusion so as to cover its tracks and hide its true intentions. It will purposely leak stories that are not true simply to cover-up what it is really doing. By putting out misleading information, the government hides behind its self-generated smokescreen like an octopus squirting ink.

Quite often, right at the moment when people’s focus is moving towards some area of criminality in the White House, the administration will even create a diversionary event for the public to put their attention on. Memories of those color-coded terror alerts that always seemed to happen right when something bad was starting to happen for the Bush administration come to mind. In creating distractions, our government is able to steer our collective attention in directions that allow it to successfully accomplish its malevolent goal of grabbing all the power it can get.

In a diabolical ploy, the administration will even feed stories to a compliant press, and then reference these stories as justification for enacting its pre-planned agenda. One glaring example is when the administration fed Judith Miller of the New York Times stories about Iraq’s weapons of mass destruction. Once this propaganda appeared on the front page of the Times, the administration was only too happy to use it as evidence for why we should go to war.

SNIP

One difference between what is happening in our country and the state-controlled media of the old Soviet Union, is that in the Soviet Union, most people were quite aware that what was being presented to them by their corrupt government as news was nothing but mind-warping propaganda. Many Americans have fallen so under the spell of the Bush regime’s criminal lies that they don’t even know they are being lied to. It is like we are living in a land of state-controlled zombies who think they are free citizens of a free country.

the stock portfolios in reference to the war profiteering corps, far beyond the fact that they are their employees.

Ughhhh

13. Do you know how RICH that guy is? And he's mayor of one of the world's most dynamic cities...
Even if he were poor, he'd be crazy not to go out without some kind of security detail.

I have no doubt the subways get more attention because of his patronage....

"How often does the unthinkable cross your mind, where under the streets of this city, a lot of people down here what we, hideously, in the terrorism business call soft targets, these days?"

What a ghoulish question, but so perfectly normal for Wlliams and his colleagues in the terrorism business.

6. He, Russert and Tweety ought to get together
and run ads 'personalizing' the news - all these NBC/GE folks influencing the electorate by way of terrorist warinings nightly, are mouthpieces for Corporations; there's Russert on Faux agreeing that Dems are screwed up, Tweety kissing Delay's butt on and off the air (in that memorable snippet from the video), the list goes on and on.

Williams is a real manly-man, tough guy, eh? In the terrorism business, eh? He looks like he'd start weeping if someone asked him for a dollar peculiarly. They think they're like Navy SEALS or swaggering Bruce Willis' or John Waynes. Simpering, fat cowardly fools...they were scared to death that their buildings were to be the next ones hit on 9/11. Remember the staff saying that the anchors were all nervous. Real 'war correspondents', aren't they?

...hot telejournalist, Brian Williams' picture would not be in the forefront of my mind. Now, Keith Olbermann, on the other hand...

Seriously though, Williams is just another testosterone cowboy wannabe who is only too happy to puff up and thump his chest for the benefit of his corporate overlords. (And I wish he'd see a doctor for that adenoid problem.)

sponsor logos in OBVIOUS sight of the audience. At least show WHO they peddle. Make it easy for the 'majority'.

19. Maybe we could have voice overs for the 'pundits'.
You know, while they are talking, we could have other people telling us about who is owned by what corporation in that golf dj voice.

"Here we see Sean Hannity exchanging dialog with Glenn Beck."

"Beck is CNNs current spin stallion and Sean 'Baby Jesus' Hannity has been known to walk on water on several occasions."

"Beck usually wears his logos on the labels, but today is wearing a cap of some sorts loaded with sponsors from all over the globe."

I'd personally tune in to hear all about the actors talking about the other actors and their agendas as they talked to actors.

All the networks are owned by one or two giant media conglomerates.

28. Brian Williams is one of the WORST offenders.
I did enjoy his appearance with Jon on The Daily Show.

Jon ruffled Brian's smug little feathers suggesting that the broadcast Media was largely responsible for the disaster in Iraq.
Brian was visibly upset. :)
Jon got too close to the truth.

When the barricades and guillotines appear in our streets, I won't cry to see Brian Williams standing in line.

Thus, it could be argued that the propagandist media ARE the terrorists
