local meteorologist and global warming koolaid
I cant frickin believe this. This is from a local meteorologist - on global warming. It's not good enough that he discounts a consensus, but goes that extra mile to put on a whole SERIES of disinformation. I especially love the credibility he gives finding "...Michael Crichton's speeches and comments interesting..."

>>If you watched my series on Global Warming: Fact or Fiction, you might have noticed that I said that "I'm on the fence" when it comes to the global warming debate. And, as a scientist, I am very comfortable being there. Those that say there is a consensus on global warming, or "the debate is over", in the scientific community are just flat out wrong! There is not consensus. There are many skeptics out there, including myself.

2. Ah yes, from my neck of the woods.
One of the many reasons I don't watch the local news around here.

3. Does he publish?
Because if he does not, then he is ostensibly not a scientist.

The "debate" is amongst those who are publishing in the field. His voice is NOT included in that chorus, so I do not give a hoot what he thinks.

Peer review is there to prevent fake-scientists from publishing their opinions as fact. This meterologist is probably just a glorified news reader, but tries to improve his crdentials by referring to himself as a "scientist".

people hired to put out weather reports. In fact, meteorologists on TV are pretty rare, although they use the title anyway.

For the record, any meteorologist worth his/her salt, would look at all data available, then reach a conclusion. Global Warming has input from various sources in the scientific world; biologists, geologists, chemists, physicists, engineers, and a host of others all need to be involved, and have been in this debate. An overwhelming number of scientists from various fields have come to the conclusion that the world is warming up. Even if this was a "natural" event, we are compounding the problem w/carbon and other chemicals we are spewing into the air. Natural aspects are generally rectified w/in nature and cyclic activity, but when you add a massive amounts that don't occur naturally, all we are doing is ramping up the problem to a scale that can't be handled through the natural processes.

When you add in deforestation, general pollution of air, water and land, the problem gets even worse. I have to growl every time some jerk like Limbaugh says, "it's 28F in Detroit, and this is MARCH!", because one days anomaly in the temp means nothing in the scheme of things. Like most RWer's and many citizens, no one looks at the big picture, they look at right now, in their locality. I can't see how blind some be be when glaciers, 10's of thousands of years old are melting away in a mere decade, and they somehow can't see that is a problem, or there just might be a problem in this.

If ignorance is bliss, these assholes are dancing in the street...x(
