Hey, I wonder what the backlash was like on the Gov't investigation of Moore's Cuba trip? |
|
I have many, many repubs telling me they are either going to see the movie or have really liked it and appreciated it. I remember the BushCo CronyAdmin was going to charge Moore for going to Cuba, but all news regarding that story seems to be buried now. Whatever happened to that? They must have gotten so much backlash they just shut the hell up. I would have loved to see it though.

A previous thread says Michael Moore is on Democracy Now!. He may discuss that issue on the show. http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=389x1131718

He said his trip is still under investigation and couldn't describe details of how he traveled to Cuba because of that.
I read somewhere that he was being defended by David Boies so he'll probably be all right.

3. If anything, government attention will only increase Moore's film revenues. |
|
With that in mind, it wouldn't surprise me if Bushco is responsible for pirating the film and making it available on the Internet. And it seems that the media are 100% complicit in the effort, too. Someone fed them the story and they ran with it, for days. A lot of movies end up online but I can't remember when there was so much media attention to a film being pirated.

4. I think Moore did a pre=emptive strike |
|
On Letterman (posted in Political Videos), Moore hinted that what the government might try to do is confiscate the film and not allow it to be shown because of the Cuba segnment. We know that literally thousands of copies of the film are on the bit torrents and people can already download and watch it. Moore has said he didn't care as long as people don't pay for it--his main interest is that people see the film. Bushco has been thwarted by this move.
BTW, go to www.michaelmoore.com and you can download a flyer for your showing of the film to friends-and a petition for them to sign.
