Poll question: OK... Let's Take The Pulse Of DU... Are You Satisfied With The Democrats In Congress As Of Now ???
This has to do with this article: Newly empowered Democrats draw wrath of voters - Reuters

Link: http://www.reuters.com/article/politicsNews/idUSN1827620920070618?sp=true

Which has been posted on DU in a couple of places, with lots of angry comments.

LBN: http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_topic&forum=102&topic_id=2884515

GD: http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_topic&forum=389&topic_id=1133600

Just wanted to take a DU Poll and see how it's goin here.

Thought about phrasing the question with "Democratically Led" Congress, but I wanna see if the anger at the Dems comes from their fellow Dems.

Me... I'm pretty pissed right now. It looks like we are gonna play the roll of somewhere between bandage and tourniquet in stopping the bleeding, but everything else is guaged to 2008, and that is not courage. That is just political suckage.

I vote NO!

1. I voted yes
Because no matter how dissatisfied I am with the current agenda from our Dems, I can always take solace in the fact that there is at least some sort of check on king georges power.

6. one aspect of the polls about Congressional problems doesn't factor in
The very real possibility of people being dissatisfied with the childish obstructionism being done daily by the REPUBLICANS.

Every single problem is being laid at the feet of the Democrats by the MSM, but I'll bet dollars to donuts that people are getting fed up with the yapping poodles of parliamentary procedure that disrupt every single bill brought up.

I wish someone would spin that aspect into the front pages of the NY Times.

4. I was just asked that question about twenty minutes ago. It was a survey
for Newsweek.

The magazine is a slanted piece of shit. I'll be interested to see what the figures are on bush**s job performance. And how many people still believe that WMDs and chemical weapons were found in Iraq. (Those were two of the goofy questions they asked.)

5. It is still too soon to judge. They need to get in Bush/Rove's
faces a lot more. I realize that they probably won't get anywhere in the courts, but they should be raising the Bush administration's unwillingness to answer questions a lot more often and talk about it a lot more loudly.

Bipartisanship cannot be saved at this point. Why? Because the Democrats have laid down and rolled over far too may times to have any respect from the Republicans. The Republicans respect only what they fear, and they do not fear a single Democrat. Nancy Pelosi was on her way to getting respect, but it appears that Rahm Emmanuel and his ilk cut her down to size -- basically made a fool of her. Democrats have to get over their jealousy of anyone who appears strong. That is a prerequisite for success in Congress. If Democrats in Congress can do that, I will be delighted. I like them on a personal basis.

After all, I thought that Pelosi and Reid just went in front of the cameras and announced their each and every plan and intention. It's so much more sporting to let the opposition know exactly what you are going to do and when you will do it. Everything should be made public and especially not hidden from anybody at DU.

The Dems are becoming enablers for this facist regime. Either put your foot down and stand up to this tyrant, or you enable it. The Democrats are playing the polls, and there comes a time when being politically "smart" just becomes foolish and counterproductive.

done.

I am not happy w/what has happened on the "war stance" or the Minimum Wage issues; but I also know how divisive we are in our own party. Everyone wants something "right now", except in the rarest of cases does it ever show up that "right now" is a good ides.

I believe Pelosi has played bush like the chump he is, she's one smart and savvy congresscritter. Reigning in all of the factors isn't easy, just as herding cats isn't easy. Priorities are to be made, and battles fought, I think this will be coming shortly.

Just look at us, we're all over the place on the political spectrum, everyone has their priority, and wants their to be the only thing accomplished. Trying to clean up the mess that the previous group left us is bad enough, but w/millions bickering w/o any clear cut direction, the problem is daunting.

Recently, the RWnuts have been harping on the "low rating congress has", well when they were in control it was worse, and not just that, they lost both houses because they did nothing. While we can't fall into the same trap, we must assure that congress does things that benefit this nation as a whole, before we can run off on personal crusades.

Take Universal Health Care, this would benefit not only the disadvantaged, but also gays, women, children and men of lesser means than the goody-two-shoes RWnuts, that believe if your not making >$150,000, you're nothing anyway

Hell, we're not even challenging that ridiculous "partial birth abortion" nomenclature that the RW'ers have tossed out there. There is no such thing, and yet, they speak of it and get people all riled up. We need to get people riled up about things they see every day...bad roads, bridges ready to collapse, energy dependence on the Middle East, massive debt, and the ways collection agencies have carte blanche to seize assets. The Libby case gives us a lot of ammo, but we're hellbent on firing blanks...the GOP is supposed to be the party of "law and order", yet when one of their own is convicted, we squawk about on DU, but I've already written 17 LTTO's and my congresscritters have heard from me that a pardon is a disgrace, (FTR: I have an R rep, and the 2 Seantors are split 1D/1R).

Don't get me wrong on this, I'm all for Equal Rights for everyone, gays, women, minorities; I am 100%
anti-war, anti-death penalty, anti-bush. But we need an eye-opening winning strategy. We need to get together on 1 or 2 issues, hammer them home, and start to put bush in a corner. One or two at a time, we can do this, start w/whatever you'd like, but they need to be things that every American can relate to: healthcare, infrastructure, Equality, the Minimum Wage, the war...we need to come together on a couple of these and then situations that are on a more personal basis can be dealt with. We need solid victories before we can take on abortion, gay rights, immigration, and a host of other aspects that affect us as Americans. We need to pull people over to our side, and by being persistent on situations that every American can relate to, we can do it.

Let's get together and deal with this sensibly and within a boundary we can work in...:)
