Why Ignore the Mandate of Heaven?
Edited on Tue Jun-19-07 08:50 AM by samq79
These days, despite a clear majority in the House, and a slim one in the Senate, it seems as if the Democrats are doing just that. In November 2006, the country stood up and commissioned the Democrat ass kicking squad, giving them clear marching orders - stop this war and this runaway train of an administration.

Out of the gate the Dems came on strong, with hearings for Gonzo-gate and bluster about cutting off funding for this disaster of a war. Immediately, however, the Repug propaganda machine started spinning to life. First, in a move that stunned anyone who actually thought about it, the Dems were branded as unsupportive of the troops, because unlike the Republicans, they actually wanted our brave men and women out of harm's way.

Then, when it seemed like all might be lost in the DOJ investigations and the war funding deliberations, Bush began deeming everything that he didn't like as "Political Theatre." This coming from the man who landed on an aircraft carrier in full jumpsuit with a codpiece that was obviously compensating for A LOT, and, while standing in front of a sign that said MISSION ACCOMPLISHED, proceeded to blow more smoke up the asses of the American people.

For some reason, the Dems quaked in fear at these attacks from the Right, and, after sending one failed and vetoed troop funding bill, which called for timelines, the Congress rolled over and took it like the prison bitch, while assuring the American people that, "we'll get 'em in September." In their minds, they were funding and supporting the troops, and that would be great - perhaps even admirable - if it weren't for the simple fact that de-funding the troops would not affect them for some time to come. The Repugs would have you believe that the moment we reach the funding deadline the troops would be walking around nude, and throwing bullets at the enemy due to lack of money for guns, which of course is ludicrous. As Keith Olbermann pointed out after the Dems caved, we have de-funded wars before to the detriment of no one.

Now we have scumbag traitors like Joe Lieberman trumpeting the bombing of Iran, which would further tax our military and our wallets. This needs to be stopped. The puffy chested Democrats that took office in January need to remember why they were elected in the first place and put a stop to this war, and this administration's policy of raping the constitution at every turn, before it's too late, and this country loses the very freedoms we are "fighting for."

Please...remember who you are, and fulfill the mandate you were given!

1. Also...
If we're asking the congress to find their largely vestigial genitals, we might as well ask them to at least take impeachment more seriously...
