ACLU Rally in DC on June 26th!

The ACLU is sponsoring a rally in Washington DC on June 26th (my birthday!). This is a terrific to gather together to defend the rule of law in America. The ACLU is providing free charter bus transportation from many, many major and smaller cities up and down the East Coat! ThinkBlue1966, our son, and I will all be attending. :hi: Details below.

About the Day of Action to Restore Law and Justice

On June 26, 2007, join us in Washington, D.C. as we call on Congress to restore habeas corpus, fix the Military Commissions Act, and restore our constitutional rights. Rally with us outside the Capitol, then help deliver our urgent message in person to your Members of Congress. This is your chance to make your voice heard!

Tuesday, June 26, 2007 - Day of Action Activities
7:00 a.m. - 9:00 a.m. Executive Branch Demonstration for those already in DC (exact location tbd)
9:30 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. Lobby Training (close to Upper Senate Park) NOTE: Lobbying will be done in groups. All attendees are encouraged to participate!
11:30 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. RALLY at Upper Senate Park.

NOTE: Paid parking in the area is limited. Be sure to
leave extra time to look for available garages if you plan on driving in to D.C. for the rally.

1:30 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.

Storm the Hill: Lobby Meetings with Senators and Representatives

6:00 p.m.

Buses depart Union station for cities around the nation.

Note: This event is free and open to the public. However, it is important that you RSVP so we can keep you updated on the event. Even if you’re not yet completely certain you can attend, it can’t hurt to sign up.

3. I know, it's great!

I just got this information off of the phone--they're calling ACLU members and letting them know ahead of time about this terrific event. I was told anyone can attend--you don't have to be an ACLU member, and you can invite your friends and family members :hi: :kick:

I have friends and kid's friends needing some down time, from work and school.
Maybe....?
Might be a fun and productive respite from the everyday and also be doing a good thing!
I'm going to ask my son, as soon as he gets home tonight, if he & friends wants to go. ;)

5. My domestic partner and I are taking our 7 year old

This will be his first "rally", so we're really excited about it. :hi: If you have kids there too, we ought to find each other so the kids can hang out while we're there :)

let me warn you! :P My 'kid' just turned 18, although he's very sweet!
He went with me to DC, in '05, for that huge anti-war demonstration on
his B-day, no less! He might want to go again, if he can bring a friend or two.
I'm guessing the busses are a one day trip?
