... or at least to have it told around here.
Look, I'm going to ask this question, open to the floor. What hasn't happened since we took the Congressional majority? I'll give you a hint. It's a good thing.

3. Dems meeting in the basement for "hearings"? |
|
That's all I can think of. Did it occur regularly before the elections?

7. well to start with.... |

we haven't pulled out of Iraq or done anything but pad the whitehouses pocket to fund their war machine, we are about to welcome in a whole new illegal working class, etc etc. I have tried to make arguments for what we have done to a repug I work with only to tell him the same thing he has told me....it takes time for the old processes to be reworked and the criminals rounded up and jailed.

It isn't that they've accomplished nothing that is the issue. Thought of another way, they've allowed nothing to be accomplished. The Republicans still surviving in the Congress know that their typical goals of the previous years: social engineering, dismantling the social safety net, abeying the Constitution with the Patriot Act, and so on... will not proceed. In fact, the neocons know that in order for their agenda to pass, they not only want a rubber stamp, they NEED one. Now that's gone.
While the Dems have no real forward progress of their own agenda, we can't fault them for this while * is in office. He's still got one authority, the veto, which will not permit the kind of wide, sweeping corrective changes we all want.

16. I politely disagree with this premise. |
|
While I don't agree with the * whitehouse, I didn't cast my vote to send my representatives to office to join in regaining the majority only to have them filibuster and stagnate. I think that our representatives have done us unproud because instead of even trying to change and advance progressive ideas and policies in D.C., they have become the new class of "No" people. If they can't hear the peoples voice and what we want then why vote for them again. We will have to unseat them as incumbents and let the future new-comers learn from the old mistakes....."don't take my vote for granted!"

17. Yes. It's a terrible misreading of public sentiment to assume... |
|
...that so many people voted so decisively for a Congress that wouldn't undo the damage of a decade of unfettered neoconservatism. Too many people are living in misery as a result, and I won't excuse our so-called "representatives" who have chickened out.
