Will Hillary ever go on "Hardball" and let Tweety Interview Her? Will She..
Edited on Fri Feb-02-07 09:53 PM by KoKo01
ever sit down with Iowan's and talk to folks in their homes like Theresa Kerry and Elizabeth Edwards did in the run up to 2004 Elections?

Can anyone see Hillary ever coming on DU or going to Josh Marshall's or Kos BLOG and answering questions from us "common folks?"

Can you see eating ribs or fried chicken with her on the STUMP? Or, would you have to pay such BIG BUCKS to do that...that you wouldn't get a place at the table?

3. Where have you been? She's already done it. Sheesh.
She did it on the COLLEGE TOUR, too. She not only took the heat from the Tweet, she took questions from the college kids.

Google, your friend. You should use it before you shoot off your mouth. You made a snarky assumption about her, and didn't even check to see if you had your facts right.

Look, you don't have to like her, but why not spend a little more time TOUTING your favorite, rather than shitting on the favorite of others.

And for the record, I was in the Kerry camp, but am still undecided. I just think that Fair Play is an important Democratic principle, and I don't see much, if any, of it in your cheap shot of a post.

20. Wow, your bias is showing. You're not even being slightly disingenuous.
Well, at least everyone can see where you're coming from.

To be serious, though, I think it was at ALBANY. It was a good show. Tweety, no friend of Bill, was charmed, and said as much.

21. And here's the thing. If someone shits on Obama, or Edwards, or
even Kucinich (whose ideas I love, but is a long shot) I'd say the same thing. I want every declared candidate, from Biden to Sharpton (Al has not declared yet, but damn I hope he does--he had some of the best ideas AND lines the last go-round), from Richardson to Dodd, to get their asses up on the stage and TELL US what they'd do. The more, the merrier. Ideas are a GOOD thing. And a lot of those also-rans make great cabinet officials.

How can we decide if we have these self-appointed "deciders" butting in and trying to decide for us? I'll tell you, when someone gets up and starts getting nasty, shitty, snarky or rotten about another candidate, if they can't speak factually and temperately, well, I smell a big old AGENDA.

And the thing is, these types of attacks don't advance the cause of their chosen candidate. All one remembers is the cheap shots at others, not the good qualities of their anointed one.

If you can't be positive, you can't sell your candidate. We've had almost seven years of negativity, lies, bullshit, fearmongering and insults from the GOP. We don't need that shit inside OUR TENT. I'd urge anyone who wants to engage in a little pissing to be sure to point their lousy dick OUTSIDE the tent, or risk it being stomped on, hard. We simply shouldn't tolerate that childish nonsense.

I don't consider myself common. :)

edit: Btw, I did see her (and her hubby) eating a hot dog with the people in NY State when she was campaigning for the Senate.

9. She did a house party last weekend in Iowa
as well as eating at diners, etc. She said she plans to do a lot more small-group meetings once the media hysteria dies down. As for eatings ribs and fried chicken, I don't know about her food preferences, but I do believe that she goes to the New York State Fair (and similar events) every year and eats amongst the "common folk." True, Hillary hasn't had much of a presence on the Internet (though the average voter doesn't frequent Kos or DU), but she's been using her website to communicate and has said that she plans to continue that.

10. Her origimnal plans in Iowa included a diner visit
but the people wanting to see he just exploded and forced them to move the event.
I predict there will be a time next summer when she won't draw flies in Iowa.

13. She did visit a diner
. . . and had a chocolate milkshake. She talks about it and the rest of her Iowa visit here, in a Time mag interview here:

http://www.time.com/time/nation/article/0,8599,1584649,00.html

I believe I read that she had to move several of her events to larger venues, but it was her first visit to Iowa in a long time, so the excitement will probably die down as she spends more time there.

16. Interesting Time Mag Article...but all I could find about her visit to Iowa was this:
with about 300 Guests.

Sen. Hillary Clinton Visits Iowa

Sen. Hillary Clinton says that President Bush should withdraw all U.S. troops from Iraq before he leaves office. The New York senator and presidential candidate says that it would be "The height of irresponsibility" for Bush to pass the war along to the next commander in chief.

Clinton spoke in Davenport, wrapping up a two-day campaign swing to Iowa. It was her first visit to the state since she announced her candidacy for president. The White House condemned Clinton's comments as a partisan attack that undermines U.S. soldiers. About 130,000 American troops are in Iraq and Bush has announced he was sending 21,500 more as part of his new war strategy.

Clinton held a town hall-style forum attended by about 300 activists, giving a brief speech before taking questions for nearly an hour. At virtually all her stops this weekend, Clinton ran into questions about her Iraq vote.

18. That's all you could find?
Here are over 3,000 articles about her Iowa visit: http://news.search.yahoo.com/news/search?p=hillary+clinton+iowa&c=

Specifically, here's an interview done with her at a diner in Iowa:

http://desmoinesregister.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20070127/NEWS09/70127006/1001/NEWS

And here's an article about a house party she was at (40 people were invited, but about 100 showed up):

http://www.gazetteonline.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20070127/IOWACAUCUS/70127044/1001

I think she'll probably do smaller events in the future, but given that she's a former first lady, she's always going to attract a lot of attention.

11. Wouldn't it be Bill who should do it?
Neither Theresa or Elizabeth were running for President. I can see Bill doing it, Hillary, not so much. Actually, I'm sure she will because it's a part of campaigning, but I'm not sure she'll be all that comfortable. Not DU or Kos, but the other stuff, I'm sure.

I'm not a Hillary backer, I just think that particular comparison doesn't fit.

They didn't run for President...

Bill should be doing that to make your comparison apt!!!
