Worldwide abject poverty is ok, but the pope needs to weigh in on driving etiquette? |

1. When you're wearing all that gold brocade |
|
you don't see any poverty, but riding in the popemobile somebody must have cut him off.

5. I always figured that if the Catholic church divested itself of all |
|
their property, treasures, art, etc., etc., they could feed the world for about 100 yrs.

15. jesus himself said the poor will always be with us |
|
i strongly suspect that if the catholic church melted down all its gold and treasures then at the end of the day then there would be fewer art treasures in the world and yet the hungry would still be there
the church does work to end poverty, but i don't know if the best way to end poverty is to impoverish oneself, there is nothing wrong w. preserving the good and the beautiful

6. As much as I loathe Cardinal Rat, the Vatican has been a staunch advocate of stamping out... |
|
poverty. Just as they were adamantly against the Iraq War.
