Negroponte behind Samarra Holy Shrine blast?
Negroponte behind Samarra blast
Sun, 17 Jun 2007 14:25:52

The US Deputy Secretary of State reportedly planned the attack on the holy Shia shrines in Samarra to help topple the Iraqi government.

According to an informed source John Negroponte plotted the attack during an unannounced trip to Iraq on June 12 in order to fuel insecurity and sectarian violence in the country.

Negroponte's motive was to overthrow Iraq's legitimate government, the same source added.

Negroponte, who was a staunch supporter of right-wing death squads in Central America during the 1980s, held several informal meetings with Iraqi officials prior to the June 13 terrorist attack on the revered Shia shrines in Samarra, the source said.

During his meetings, Negroponte reportedly strongly cautioned that the government of Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki must change.

2. Remember Cheney's Thanksgiving trip to Saudi Arabia?
Edited on Wed Jun-20-07 02:56 PM by Gman
and remember how he got his ass chewed out and told that Saudi Arabia will, in essence, make life completely miserable for Cheney and the oil companies if the US pulled out of Iraq and hung the Sunni's out to dry? The shrine attacked was a Shiite shrine. And, consider how Sunnis have been locked out of the Iraqi govenment. I've got to go do some research to back this up, but I've been noticing a trend since then of the Bush "administration" subtly favoring the Sunnis ever since which is a reverse from the blocking out of Saddam's Sunni's sect. This bombing is right up Cheney's and Negroponte's alley and I don't doubt for a second that they may well be behind this.

This begs the further question, what is Cheney trying to pressure Bush to do in Iraq?

Just as likely to be made up as is it legitimate.

I did note the questionmark. But I would not have reposted the article and link without a second source.

7. For what possible reason would we invade a non-belligerent nation?
The problem here is that reason is so rarely applicable to the actions. It makes no sense? Then it's possible. That's what sucks.

that mosque in Samarra. I would not be surprised in the least. The death squad king is fugging evil.

9. better villain- Al-Qaeda
"...reported at the time of the 2006 Al-Askari Mosque bombing that “al-Askari one of Shi'ite Islam's holiest sites, exceeded in veneration only by the shrines of Najaf and Karbala. Even Samarra's Sunnis hold al-Askari in high esteem."

"13 June 2007, suspected >al-Qaeda< operatives destroyed the two remaining 36 m (118 ft)-high golden minarets flanking the dome's ruins. No fatalities were reported. Iraqi police have reported hearing "two nearly simultaneous explosions coming from inside the mosque compound at around 8 a.m."A report from state run Iraqiya Television stated that "local officials said that two mortar rounds were fired at the two minarets."
