2. I don't even want the dumb cell phone I already have. |
|
The obsession with gadgets these days has never rubbed off on me. I have 2 20 inch "lamp" iMacs, a laptop I use for translation work, and a bare-bones cell phone that I never use - that's it. No PDAs or blackberries, don't need'em, don't want'em.
I don't want a giant plasma screen TV, my 27 inch 4 year old set will do fine. Don't want Blu-ray or HD-DVD or whatever. I got a bunch of DVDs, and I really don't care if they become obsolete, because honestly, the picture is really good enough.
I have an ipod I got in 2003 when I got the iMacs. It's nice, but I don't carry it around. It's hooked to some little speakers and that is our home stereo system.
Looking at the iPhone, I just don't see where it is going to fill any need in my life that isn't already being met...

4. In my line of work, smartphones are practically a must. |

to communicate with my staff and vendors in real time.
We currently use a Treo, but the Iphone just looks cool plus has many features the treo doesn't have. If it peforms well, I'll probably get everyone in my office one.

3. I asked the guy at the Verizon store about it...... |
|
iPhone is exclusive to at&t.
The Verizon guy said that they passed on it, because Apple wanted too much control. at&t wasn't so picky. He also said that the net features on iPhone run at dialup speeds.
I commented that if that if the whole face of the iPhone is touch sensitive that it would have to be able to be de-activated while it's in your pocket or on your belt. Also, if that touch screen fails, the whole phone is down.
The Verizon said to standby for THEIR competing rollout. Apparently, they've got something up their sleeve to go up against iPhone.
It's great to see the cell phone moving up to a whole new level though.
