Congrats Americans - I Saw A Crawl On A NewsChannel That Gas Supplies Are Up......
This must be the reason why the prices are falling a bit from their highs. It is a sign that people are cutting back and conserving. You would think that this would be a big news story - but I don't think they want the general population to know that if we conserve - we can control the pricing and bring it down.

The story around Memorial Day was that Americans couldn't cut back on their usage and prices would keep going up all summer. Now that we have cut back - they seem to be burying this story.

2. Phooey. . . media looks at the signs on the gas stations
then when they get to the office they write stories to try and make it look like they predicted it.

3. Didn't Cheney say back in 2001 that "conservation is for sissies?"

4. Its not because we are conserving, there has been an increase in imports of finished gasoline
There is not now nor has there been any shortage of oil or gasoline as the reason for price increases at the pump.

Have you seen a "gas line" anywhere?

Supply and demand have nothing at all to do with the price we are paying at the pump; look at Exxon's quarterly profits to see where you're money is going.

5. Actually, demand is up, according to the Chevron CEO on the "Today" show...
The CEO of Chevron, interviewed by Meredith Viera a few minutes ago, said that the reason gas prices have come down recently is because refinery maintenance is done every spring, hence supplies are lower until the maintenance is complete. Demand is up and is expected to increase during the summer driving season. (Always thought of summer as biking season myself, but that's just me.)

7. Of Course That's What The Oil Co.'s Want Us To Believe......
they wouldn't admit that we have cut back - because that would mean that we are winning the price war. (the price war between the oil companies and the american people)

So - now go out there and say that demand is up and expected to go up - so that we they can continue to jack up the prices.

Isn't it funny that all along when prices where going up - it was a refinery problem.

Now we have the refinery maintenance over! Yeah right!

8. Agreed, mostly.
The driving season explanation may have some truth. Oil executives may be evil, conniving, conspiritory swine with no warm blood in their veins, but how many people drive their SUVs to the library to check out "An Inconvenient Truth", then drive a hundred miles or more to read it on the beach?

Another quote, this time from Pogo: "We have met the enemy and it is us." (Not exact, but close.) No one forced my neighbor to buy a Cadillac Esplanade. The bloody thing melts sea ice all by itself.

Consumers create demand. Carnivores merely take advantage of weakness.

(Holy cow, did the meds just kick in? Where did that come from?)
