is good for American workers. We should actually work to remove more barriers for our employers - reduce or eliminate taxes, remove environmental controls, eliminate safety measures.

2. That report

may well be right, immigration, legal or illegal probably does raise wages, for the Robber Barron's who exploit them. When you have top level executives in a company like Microsoft hiring foreign workers with a H1B visa you can pay them much less than citizens, that labor cost savings makes the bottom line look better resulting in pay raises and bonuses for executes. Its probably an even better ROI with illegal immigrants, especially true for small companies and individuals that hire them.

3. Ah... Profits are now being called wages

During CSPAN open calls, it's so sad to hear the uninformed and unthinking callers. One from Champaign IL called in all upset because he saw a buncha Mexeeekans building an apartment building, a WHOLE BUNCH OF THEM!! And they don't pay any taxes or social security! How can you pay social security when you don't have a social security number!?!

He's watching out for them Mexicans that are invading our country! Keepin' his eyes wide open! :eyes:

Trouble is, he has NO IDEA whether the group he saw are actually illegal or legal immigrants. It never occurs to him that there's an EMPLOYER who has hired and is paying these people, whether they are legal or not! And if we presume as the caller did that these are illegal immigrants, does it occur to him that the employer is not paying payroll or social security taxes on them? Cash only, baby!
