Mr Gore

if you stay out of the race and we end up with a candidate who has the nerve to blame the Iraqi "government" for a tragedy that we are 100% responsible for, I, like many others, will be reluctantly voting for the "least of two evils." Yes, I will vote if it comes down to that. But I will not spend time or money encouraging others to support a campaign that is thumbing its nose in the face of the American people, and reality.

We're not dumb. We can see, they made a political calculation. Blaming the Iraqi government is a way out. It's a way out of her vote to support the war, when back then we all knew it was wrong. We knew the inspectors had Saddam under control and he was not a threat, and this war was about oil and money. She knew it too, and she knows it now. But she wants to blame the Iraqi government for 3,500 US Troop deaths, and untold hundreds of thousands of Iraqi citizens' deaths. There is no excuse for this kind of twisting the facts and if that's what we're getting in a candidate I hate to think of what we'd get in a President from the same group of fact twisters. Every time I see her say this, with that fake smile glued on her face, I really get a sick feeling in the pit of my stomach.

If you do not run and this woman gets nominated, my vote will be reluctant and will be based on the simple fact that our country can't take another 4 years of a Republican in office. I will vote, but I will have no excitement, no energy to give to the campaign, and little hope that things will get better.

On the other hand, if you would only jump in the race I have a lot of energy to give to your campaign. I don't have a lot of money to contribute but I will work for you in many ways. Newsletters, blogs, websites, phonecalls, you name it. I will start to regain some of the hope I've lost.

I know you would not stoop so low as to make up some kind of lame excuse and blame the Iraqi government for something that the United States is responsible for. such a person does not deserve to be President, except in the case that the alternative is even worse.

Please save us Al.

2. Does anybody know when is the very latest a presidential
candidate can join in the race? It seems so early to start campaigning.

4. During the primaries
each state votes for a candidate on each party. it is very difficult, but not impossible for a candidate to jump into the race after the primaries have started. barring some kind of tragedy or significant political development, each state's electors will cast their votes for the candidate chosen by the electorate on the primary election.

so the short answer is, he'd have to jump in before the primaries start which I believe is early 08.

7. Al Gore is the only candidate for me
Of course, I'll support whoever is the Democratic nominee.

Also this: Al Gore gave his Shermanesque "I won't run" for the 2004 election in Dec. 2002. Relatively speaking, we're six months past that point now. Significant? I think it could be.

8. how about one of those "pools" to predict when he jumps in?
I don't think he will do it during the 7/7 event, that would take away focus from the issue.

I'd say more like september. let our disdain for Hillary brew a little more.

for the life of me, I can't understand why Hillary is leading in the polls. Are we really that fringe?
