Carol Lam was prosecuting Medicare fraud by Tenet Healthcare's Alvarado Hospital. On the day before the now infamous Sampson Memo, HHS announced that Medicare payments to Tenet would be terminated, a death knell (stock value and profit wise) for the corporation.
