Ashcroft Confirms Comey Testimony-Questioned Legality of Surveillance Program
By LAURIE KELLMAN, Associated Press Writer

WASHINGTON - Former Attorney General John Ashcroft confirmed the Bush administration was sharply divided over the legality of President Bush's most controversial eavesdropping work, the chairman of a congressional panel said Thursday.

"It is very apparent to us that there was robust and enormous debate within the administration about the legal basis for the president's surveillance program," House Intelligence Committee Chairman Silvestre Reyes, D-Texas, told reporters after a closed-door meeting with Ashcroft.

.............

Democrats have insisted that the hospital story appears to contradict Gonzales' congressional testimony that there had been no significant disagreement within the administration over the program. Gonzales has stood by his testimony.

Of course gonzales stands by his story. By now, he has no idea what the truth is and could not possibly care less about right or wrong.

4. All this testimony is just spinning our wheels.
Why did COMEY's testimony NEED further verification? How many others are going to be called without anything coming out of it?

5. Gonzo and Card tried to force Asscroft to sign off on
an Illegal Spying Program. When he wouldn't do so Busholini went ahead with the Illegal Spying anyway. Will Congress actually bring charges on anyone for these criminal acts?

8. You know it was bad if John Ashcroft stood up to it.
I mean really really bad, he pushed the Patriot Act, so we know whatever this surveillance was it crossed the line big time.

Isn't it kind of freaky that this guy, John "Patriot Act" Ashcroft was the one who protected us? That's just fucking insane. Fucking insane that I agree with Pat Buchanan and John Ashcroft, just really blows my mind. It shows the times we are living in.
