White House Defends Cheney Over Secrets...You knew this shit was coming!
Edited on Fri Jun-22-07 07:15 PM by rndmprsn
we are above the law! this screams it...and if nothing is done about this, they sadly, really are.

http://www.forbes.com/feeds/ap/2007/06/22/ap3850090.html

The White House on Friday defended Vice President Dick Cheney's decision not to cooperate with a government office charged with safeguarding national security information - and denied that Cheney ever suggested the agency be shut down.

Despite objections from the National Archives, Cheney's office has exempted itself from a presidential executive order that seeks to protect national security information generated by the government...

...White House deputy press secretary Dana Perino said it's clear that the president's executive order never intended for the vice president's office to be treated as an "agency."

"He's not exempt from following the laws of the United States," Perino said. "He's exempt just from this reporting requirement in this particular executive order."

13. Yup, which is why white GOP males in this country think that political office
is where you go to abuse your power for personal gain. It's like that on a local level too. They know that they'll never face legal action. The whole system is set up to look the other way, if you're white, male and well connected.

7. Since the executive order was written in 1987
how can the little dicktater put his signing statement on that, which says old dicky boy is exempt from perserving the vice president records.

5. Law doesn't mean much anymore. You'd think that men like these-
The greatest beneficiaries of the system- would recognize that undermining the public's respect for law is incredibly dangerous. They only enjoy their wealth because of law- because of the general working population's willingness to adhere to the social contract. To undermine that for a little more fleeting power, or a few more bucks is... just stupid.

6. the only time cheney can claim to be part of the 'legislative' branch is
when he is presiding over the senate, and really only when he is called upon to 'break a tie'- in the senate.

His papers having to do with his 'DUTIES' as part of the presidents 'executive office'- he is listed as part of the "Cabinet Rank Members" on the White House site.- are all subject to the same accountability as any other member of the "executive branch"- which he operates under as a cabinet member.

10. Does that mean that the Chief Justice is in the Legislative Branch when ...
... presiding over the Senate during the impeachment trial of a President or Vice President?? I kinda doubt it.

11. no- because when the CJ is presiding over a trial they are
acting in a "judicial" authority-

When cheney presides over the senate, he is not operating as a "part" of the "legislative body"- he is only really doing that when he is called upon to participate as the equivalent an actual member of the "legislature"- when called upon to actually cast a 'vote'- something that only "legislative" members are qualified to do, I believe.

but I'm no authority- just an interested, frustrated citizen.

8. Time to hit the streets
No impeachment from Congress?
Then where does it end? - this is lawlessness.
We have to take back our country and put these thieves in jail.
This is a non-partisan issue too.
