Poll question: Is Unquestioning Loyalty To A Political Party EVER Good For That Party ???
Just ask the Republicans how that one is going these days. Ask the Germans how well that went for them in the past.

I am SO FUCKING TIRED of having legitimate criticisms of The Democratic Party being met with the chastity belt gate keepers who rise in indignation anytime one of us sees a potential for loss of support for our own party, deserved or otherwise. I've been voting Democrat since I turned 18 in 1974 (Jerry Brown Gov. CA), and my parents have been voting Dem since the Depression and WWII respectively. So I DO NOT NEED the lectures on my lack of support for my party.

Plus... if I see something going wrong, and don't say anything for fear of DUer condemnation, what kind of Democrat would that make me then??? We are supposed to keep an eye on our own party. They work for us too.

:wtf:

I vote NO! Unquestioning loyalty is NEVER good for a political party.

And neither are loyalty tests.

1. I vote NO too
The party is not who is in DC or running for office, it's us, the people. They work for us or we don't work for them.

2. Look what it's done to the GOP
Talk about splintered and demoralized, they towed the line for a long time, now look at them.

3. I have actually been surprised
by the number of people here who feel as you do.

Loyalty oaths are like the stupid games we played as a child. This is FAR too important.

They work for us and when they stop working for us we have to look for another solution. We tried. We wrote and called and protested and then elected them to do what they will not do. Loyalty? They don't play that game and we shouldn't either.

5. Personally, I think it's delusional and idiotic for voters to be more 'loyal' to a party ...

... than the politicians (e.g. Lieberman, Chambliss) who fly the party 'flag' and whose campaigns are funded from that party's coffers.

But then I'm an anti-partisan liberal independent who ranks 'partisanship' only slightly above toe jam.

On edit: I lied. I rank it below toe jam and only slightly above crotch rot.

15. Now You Are Just Projecting.
You can't refute my genius, so you stoop to the level of insult. When you're ready to move beyond personal insults, and address the point I've made, let me know :hi:.
