26. I voted for him in 2K and came to DU |
|
in the (apparently vain) hope that years of Republik rule would shock the Dems into standing up for The People again.
Now that they've demonstrated that they have no intention of ever leading again, I'm losing interest. I've moved to a sane place where the majority have a clue and it is wonderful. I will stay here and watch the disintegration of the empire until either I die or am able to get out of the country.
I will vote for the Democratic candidate for President in 2008 for only one reason, the two to four SCOTUS nominations that the next Prez will make, and by extension, out of sympathy for the kids that will suffer through what their parents have done to them.

34. at this point i am beginning to have serious doubts |
|
and wonder why i continue to frequent this place.
the sheer hideousness and rudeness of many posters is appalling.
the transparency of the right wingers who post here makes my jaw drop sometimes.
i don't seem to identify with the majority white/suburban constituency overrepresented here.
i stay for the reasonable voices, the ones who aren't consistently lashing out at others and who otherwise have something worthwhile to say.
but online activities are starting to become a time sink for me anyway, i need to seriously assess what this activity is accomplishing for me in my personal life.

But there's a sort of psychotherapy in frequenting here. A place to talk about matters and to organize is good for the soul.

are too busy working to keep from going under or so severely marginalized from the economic system, they no longer have a stake.
i suppose it would be easier if i was in college to jump on an organizing bandwagon, but the police state learned their lessons from the protests of the 60s. they simply do not allow it to be an effective form of redress anymore.
i am becoming more and more radicalized.
i enjoy no comforts, have no job, have no possessions, and the scales fall from eyes more and more each day. it is liberation in its truest sense. more and more i understand the stoic principles of the body being merely a vessel and the accoutrement of life being mere appearances. the only thing i have left is my ability to say no. at this point, i have control over my movements and physical body, but if they took that too, i'd still say no.
but talking about effective action is a no no in many places, so i don't even go there.
still, there can be change, but the corporations (the government is a wholly owned subsidiary of the corporations) need to made fearful of the mass of people. people in power have to be put in situations where their credit cards cannot save them. and this goes for most of the political system, including both parties. a political solution is hopeless, because the system is compromised. a popular movement, a movement of the people, is required.
at this point, i have nothing to lose except my freedom, and whether i am actually free is questionable.

before change occurs. After the gilded age, that critical mass was a depression. Change will manifest itself at some point. Too bad damage occurs at such transitions before the reversal.
