2. too late....those in other time zones, make sure you see it, tape it, etc. |
|
this was right up there with the sketch done during the 2000 election, with Bush hiding under the WH desk. the one about the future, with the Capitol building in flames, outside the window behind his back, etc.

4. Actually, this is 2007's final episode, which was one of the best in recent |
|
memory, which isn't saying much, I know, but there are some amazingly funny sketches, bordering on sublime, including an interview done in "Italian" by genius Bill Haider (sp), who could be a reincarnation of Marcello Mastroianni
seriously...watch

3. How many freaking cast members are there now? |
|
Now they're getting around to doing "cutting edge" political humor again?

5. way too many, almost all forgettable. with a very few exceptions, the only |
|
ones who are funny are the women
the 'new' one, Wiig, I think, is amazing; a Lucille Ball with talent. she actually does great facial expressions without mugging, as is the case with most 'actresses'

This reminds me of the classic SCTV sketch, where they do an intro to a very "SNL-like" sketch show and there are so many cast members being introduced that they run out of time for the show.
I've liked Amy Poehler since I saw her on Conan O'Brien many years ago.

6. The SNL opener is always "cutting edge" and relevant |

9. WADR, don't agree with the always relevant/cutting edge, but.... |
|
that's clearly a matter of taste....I don't find much of the show funny, or even watchable, for the most part, opening sketches included, but as I said, YMMV
IMO, even the relevant stuff, in large part, hasn't been very funny, especially w/o a Bush portrayal in the league of Will Ferrell
thanks for the links!

13. yr wlcm... curious to see what you think. I was surprised at |
|
how funny I thought so many sketches were.
I usually find it mostly unwatchable
