Poll question: Hillary Clinton Poll
Hillary Clinton does not seem very popular here... My take on Hillary is Churchillian. "Hillary would be the worst possible president, except for all the Republicans."

That being said, who would you vote for in the following hypothetical 2008 presidential election?

5. That's equivilent to giving the Pubs a vote!
The only reason I don't want Hillary to be Prez is because I'd like to see the end to both dynasties...Bush & Clinton. I happen to think she would do a GREAT job as Prez, and she sure would outdo any of the Pubs since DDE!

If she is the nominee, I'd sure vote for her!

... Somehow that doesn't add up to the level of Clinton-hatred I see on DU.

14. Hillary, not that it counts for anything
The votes from minority party members in solid red and solid blue states are essentially meaningless due to the Electoral College, and I think we have several elections before there's even a remote possibility that TX becomes a "swing" state on the Presidential level. At this point, I think we could nominate our strongest candidate to go up against their weakest, and TX would vote for whatever incompetent wingnut they throw up on the ballot, probably with a double-digit percentage point margin of victory.

18. 30%??? According to your unscientific poll? With just a few paltry votes???
You think that 30% of Democrats will NOT vote for her if the choice is between Rudy ("thank god bUsh is president") and she? I doubt that the number could be that high? Or are you basing your number on some REAL poll (not the once you scared up for us here).

27. Sadly for the anti~Hillary fringe, the "phenomenon" only plays out here in DU....
out in the real world (where it matters to most everyone with the possible exception of the DU fringe), Hillary is ahead in the polls. I wonder why that is? Could the "phenomenon" be nothing more than an illusion? Wishful thinking? Or are some people's grapes, as the saying goes~~~sour?

In the latest (June 22, 2007) Newsweek poll conducted by Princeton Survey Research Associates International, Hillary leads with 43% of those polled followed by Obama at 27% and Edwards at 14%. Of course, I am not endorsing this poll either. Just highlighting it.

32. Those polls continue to surprise me.
I still haven't met one Democrat who favors Hillary. Of course, most of my friends are grad students and other quite liberal types, so that could explain it somewhat.

33. How do you do?
I am a Democrat and I favor Hillary. I also have a graduate degree and am quite liberal. However, I support Hillary for president. I don't seem to know many people who don't support her candidacy...other than republicans (and it seems a good percentage of the people on this web~site). I don't find her poll numbers surprising, she is a seasoned politician and I believe that Democrats have the best chance at winning the White House with her as our nominee.

20. I could vote for Hillary Clinton in the general election happily and with a clear conscience if
She swore on a stack of Bibles to do the following four things as her first four acts in office:

1. Signed a bill creating publicly financed elections
2. Signed the Employee Free Choice Act
3. Some kind of Universal health insurance
4. Began the withdrawal of troops from Iraq.

Heck, if she would do those four things first, I'd even work for her and throw a dollar or two her way, not that she needs it.

Nader? Certainly not. If something really weird and freaky happened and Gore ran as an independent, I'd vote for him over Clinton.

30. I reject the premise of the poll.
We aren't even at the primaries yet, and we keep talking about Senator Clinton as if she's our candidate. Clinton is who the republicants framed as our candidate over a year ago, which means they want her to get it. For that reason alone, I can't take her seriously. How about we have us some primaries and select our own candidate before we have this discussion?

39. I'd Vote for Hillary, Unless the Third Party Was Al Gore.
I wouldn't be happy about it, though. I don't particularly dislike her, but I don't think she has a snowball's chance of winning the election, despite whatever the polls say. The biggest favor the Democratic Party could do for the Republicans is give Clinton the nod. :(

However, it doesn't make much difference: I live in Pennsylvania, so whoever the Democratic nominee is, they'll most likely get our electoral votes. :P
