Why Bloomberg makes me feel better about Obama
Interestingly enough, the poking around by Mike Bloomberg at an Independent run for President has me feeling a little bit better about Barack Obama than I have since he first entered the race.

My initial instincts about Barack were cynically skeptical: Another wishy washy, word-parsing, please everyone, Rahm Emanuel supported, Iran nuking on-the-table, no legislative record-having, usual suspect contribution-getting, compromise anything for power SOFT DEMOCRAT - suspected I.

But I've tried to keep an open mind. Maybe he's just doing and saying what a guy needs to do and say to get elected in this here Republic of ours? Maybe he's not really a tool of bad guys? My jury has been (and continues to be) out on Barak.

But this whole Bloomberg thing has me feeling a bit better. After all, who are Bloomberg's buddies at the CFR and the DLC worried about? Why has Mr. Inner Circle been pushed out into trial-balloon land?

My guess is that someone thinks that their already hedged bets are looking a bit weak. Hillary is in a fight for her life. The Republican candidates are hurtin' for certain - even Law and Order Boy.

Maybe they fear Edwards or Gore? But right now Obama is the presumptive usurper of Clinton. If the CFR / DLC crowd was OK with him, I'm skeptical they'd be throwing this deep pass to Mike.

I still want to hear a lot more from Obama about a lot of things, but Bloomy sticking his finger to the wind gives my paranoid mind some strange comfort. Someone somewhere is worried methinks. And I like that.

1. Bloomberg cannot win, and I think he will pass on running.
Many people in the US are still anti-semitic (even if they will not admit it)

Romney's religion will put him on the outs too..

Rudy's reputation will sink his hopes when the scrutiny gets hot & heavy..

The other wannabees are laughable and not even worth critiquing.

I see this coming down to Thompson (republicans like actors..who LOOK the part..even if they are empty suits)

and Probably Hillary...

unless Gore steps in.

I'm not sure he's interested, but if he EVER wanted to be president, THIS is his best shot at it.

5. Even if he doesn't run, or can't win
my point is that his entreaties may reflect some worry on the part of someone.

And that makes me think maybe Obama worries them. Maybe.

6. How would the country react to a Hilary/Rudy/Mike run?
It seems that if there was ever an anti New York sentiment in the country, that that's when it would rear its ugly head.
Good chance for the Greens or another smaller party?

7. Sounds like Mike won't run if Hillary gets the nom.
So that scenario is pretty unlikely. (Not to mention that Rudy getting the rethug nom is looking less and less likely every day as well.)

But if it's Obama vs Romney, and smart players know Romney can't win? I think that's the Mike scenario.

2. There was a statement made on CNN to the effect that Bloomberg will not run
if HRC snags the Democratic Nomination. He said that result would be (paraphrasing) peachy keen. :(

3. What makes you think Bloomberg has friends at the DLC?
When you can personally finance your presidential bid without even thinking about it, you don't really need the DLC.
