and I would expect nothing different from the Congress than they have shown us for the last 6 years

What has Congress done since 2000 for us to expect anything different?

1. Stop pretending that last November made no difference.
That's the Nader line of "there's no difference between Republicans and Democrats."

Yeah, it sucks that the Republicans were able to falsify enough elections to keep their ability to interfere with efforts toward good government.

But Democracy is MEANT to be a compromise of everyone's opinions. If you are not comfortable with democracy, say so.

4. I agree with you. We need that veto-proof majority, but even without it, we have the GAVELS
You can't INVESTIGATE without those gavels. People are pissed off because they're learning that their worst fears, the things they suspected, are actually TRUE, and the reason they know this is because we have the gavels and can hear these things from the likes of Monica Goodling and others.

5. Screw nader, he helped give us what we have today, but so did the Dems in Congress
For the most part they gave bush a blank check, and look what we have today

Incidently, by a newsweek poll 41% believe Iraq had something to do with 9/11. I might also add thanks to the MSM for creating that misrepresentation, but also thanks to Bill Clinton for pushing to sign the Communication Act of 1996

Am I pissed, yes, we have too few Feingolds in Congress

9. As long as there are Lobbyists, As long as elections are 24 month popularity contest...
No. Then I'm not comfortable with what WE call "democracy."

And the next person that calls Lobbying and Money donations to political parties "Free Speech" is going to get a punch right in the nose.

2. I don't think of where I want us to be, I think of where we would be
We'd be much worse off with a GOP-led Congress. Things have already marginally improved.
We're not all the way there yet ... and not anywhere close to where I want us to be, but
it's better than we would have been.

Buying into this "Dems are no better" meme just gives inspiration to these fracturing
movements the GOP is encouraging, because it takes the power away from the strongest
non-GOP party.

10. It isn't those of us at DU that need to think differently, it those who believe whatever the MSM say
Edited on Mon Jun-25-07 09:54 AM by still_one

3. that is why all the reports are pushing "al-qaida in Iraq"
instead of the civil war, sunni insurgent reality. You are right of course, the dems will be cowed yet again by the dreaded "weak on terra" meme.

7. The most misleading information, is that even if AQ is causing some of this
the controlling Shia will wipe them out whether we stay or go. The only effect of our staying is more Americans and Iraqiis killed and wounded
