Glenn Greenwald takes note of the increasing propensity of journalists to follow the administration’s lead in describing all Iraqi fighters as al Qaeda:

That the Bush administration, and specifically its military commanders, decided to begin using the term “Al Qaeda” to designate “anyone and everyeone we fight against or kill in Iraq” is obvious. … But what is even more notable is that the establishment press has followed right along, just as enthusiastically. <…>

What makes this practice all the more disturbing is how quickly and obediently the media has adopted the change in terms consciously issued by the Bush administration and their military officials responsible for presenting the Bush view of the war to the press.

5. There is no difference between al Qaeda nd the bush ...
both fight for ludicrous reasons based in ignorance and hate. al Qaeda was a small group of thugs before all of this, now it is a big group of thugs...

The administrations is a small group of thugs, but unlike al Qaeda, the number of supporters is dwindling. For the media to just latch on to this is disgusting. The killing goes on because both leaderships have nothing but hate in their hearts.

If we were attacked and occupied, we'd be doing precisely the same thing on a civilian scale. The chances of them, "coming over here and fighting us is minute to non-existant, and yet people still believe that crap...just as they'll be more than willing to accept this new tripe being thrown out to the masses...

6. Scope Creep
soon, Al Queda will be any sunni fighting us in Iraq, then any sunni or shiia, then any Arab, then anyone in europe who criticizes the war, then anyone in the US who criticizes the war.

wait, we're already at that point. is this Fascism yet?
