"Darby" soldier who broke Abu-Garib story on 60mins NOW- |
|
very telling-
Even the local VFW rep (in his hometown) thought his actions were those of a"traitor"
:nuke:
And Rumsfeld outed him!

1. he and his wife have had to leave their home, move |
|
to another place, and does not want people to know where this is.
Even members of his own family believe what he "did" is wrong....
What is wrong with us???

2. A disturbingly high percentage of "us" think Saddam brought about 9/11. |
|
So defending dirty Arabs being treated as they richly deserve, for being dirty Arabs, and getting good Americans in trouble for it, deserves nothing but scorn according to "our" prejudices.

(the 'us' who believe Saddam did 9/11, and feel the abuse of prisoners is "just deserts") also be supporting keeping Gitmo open?
And support 'rendition'???
This soldier did the absolute right thing, and instead of being honored, there are those who hate him.
Jeez, I can't accept that 'we' have become such arrogant ugly people.

|
just like the jews in 1940s germany. that's how any army gets it's soldiers to commit some of the horrors that war produces . . . make the enemy subhuman.

3. And Anderson Cooper is an arrogant gasbag. What a piece of shit. |
|
Could he have talked down to that poor guy any more than he did.
And the head of the VFW from Darby's home town is confused, he's the traitor to the armed forces of this country. What an amoral arrogant bastard.
I knew, I JUST KNEW, I'd be mad if I watched that interview.

10. After all he's gone through he said he would do it again. People like him |
|
not only impress me, they intimidate me. Why? Because they make it very plain and clear that we are not doing OUR part.

5. I consider "the local VFW guy" the traitor. |
|
And he and his family should be dealt with in a manner in which he seems to advocate for Darby. This country is in trouble, because he ain't getting past his stupid, inbred roots, and many of us are getting sick of putting up with it.

12. I consider the VFW guy |
|
as someone who has a LOT to learn FROM Darby-
The man doesn't realize the harm he is doing by making a choice that doesn't "rock the boat"- but which lowers the level of honor for the entire military-
The "military" isn't exempt from having members who do bad things, but to demand that those who do wrong be protected and coddled, is almost as bad as the abuse itself!!-
bah!-

11. IMO This man, Darby, lied just like all of the people who |
|
have been touched by Rumsfield. We know that Rummy knew about the torture at that time and it was just an easy way out for him. Darby and his wife are probably glad to receive the big bribe every month to tell his lies and protect the Bushies.

when he said he'd recieved the "pictures" of abuse annonomusly- and asked to pass them on- He wanted to do it without being 'outed'- because he believed he would be targeted.
What 'bribe' money are you talking about???

15. the messenger isn't the issue, but the fact that people - people |
|
who not only should KNOW better, but people who are supposed to be supportive of doing morally 'right' things, consider him a traitor-
What happens to this man, MATTERS- He took a risk speaking out- the least that those of us who feel grateful for his willingness to go against the flow and speak out, to bring the crap that was happening there to light, owe him, is to be outraged by the treatment he has recieved as a result-
And to speak out about why telling the TRUTH is the honorable thing- especially when it is not only an "uncomfortable" truth, but a shameful one.
