I think they would have liked to, but with the conditions in Iraq the way they are, they just don't have the resources.

6. But we didn't have the resources to invade and occupy Iraq evidently |
|
With much success anyway. That didn't seem to stop him.

3. No. They don't need to- $70 oil and congress keeps approving their war funding |
|
But they might have done so in 2008 if things looked bad in the prez race. They might still....
Note "retained" not "regained"

8. Oil and energy is and always has been the key. |
|
Notice you never hear complaints about OPEC. We are all poorly used tools of the energy cartels and powers vying for control of energy.

If he wants to do it he will. He doesn't care who controls Congress because it makes no difference to him. He's the Unitary Executive and will do what he likes.

5. bush will attack Iran if he wants to, and the Dems won't do much. I doubt bush |
|
would invade, just a long sustained bombardment with missles, planes, and ships. The Dems may wring their hands and make a couple of speeches, but they won't try to stop him.
He's already sent black opps in and the Dems haven't raised a peep. There are a lot of Dems who lust after empire just as much as bush does.

7. If the Republicans regained control of Congress the world would have been destroyed. |

Yep. Why not imagine a huge Parade of Horribles? After all, that might be the only way to claim significiant "accomplishments' in the last six months. Besides, it's fashionable. Who hasn't heard the Cheney/Bush administration claims that they've saved us from death and destruction at the hands of those evil terrorists who wantto kill our children and rape our women?? Hell. let's not fight the purveyors of disinformation and propaganca ... let's just do the same thing.
Buckle up for our tour of WouldaCouldaShouldaLand!!

12. Thanks, Don! I've been busy keeping the elephants away. |
|
I tear off pieces of newspaper in the right size and toss them into the wind all over my neighborhood. I know it works because we haven't seen any elephants in the neighborhood since I've been doing it. (It works against rhinoceros's, too.)

11. Not sure. I think there might be just enough old line Conservatives who would refuse to back |
|
him on it; just enough to make it impossible through Congress. But he would have found another way, as he did precisely that in Iraq.

15. Invaded? No. Attacked? Remotely possible. |
|
We don't have the military to attack Iran, and even these fantasists know it. It's got three times the population of Iraq, much better terrain for defense and a full-out invasion would crash the world's oil economy overnight.
Whether they'd have bombed facilities by now is another question, but I rather doubt it. I DO, however, think that it's a distinct possibility that they will. What they're probably looking for is some kind of "incident", preferably one against Israel that would be used to justify Israel making a strike that we might augment.
Hard to say. These guys are crazy and arrogant, but I'm not sure they're THAT crazy at the moment.
