13. Westboro is the real deal
It is mostly an extended family but it is growing in size. They are real and real crazy. And I would not doubt it that they seem themselves as a future Waco incident.

14. Most of the members of the church are lawyers
They probably know where they are standing on copyright issues. Most of how they stay afloat is by suing people and groups that come after them.

4. Oh, I think a satire is in order
This, sadly, doesn't look like a satire, though I thought it surely had to be.

Seems to me there are some clever folk who can do a lot with "God Hates Fred Phelps"
to the same tune. :)

Just a hunch.

8. I'm sorry
but I can't stop laughing. That is so bad, so so bad. They sing out front of all of our concerts so I have heard them plenty of times but never like this. Too funny. Really, they can't be taken seriously. What are they going to do? Kill us with their bad intonation?

All I could think of watching their faces was Jim Jones or those guys who offed themselves to get to the mothership. Well I was going to take a nap but considering those people are probably no more than 10 miles away I think I won't. Creeps me the fuck out.

18. Nothing like a bunch
of pasty white fundies trying to sing hateful gospel. Nothing like it in the world.

You should hear what they do to John Denver songs. I shudder just thinking about it. Oh yes, they use microphones and karaoke machines.

25. You might just have something there!
Painful isn't it? Actually I would take just about anything they think might happen to me rather than listen to them sing ever again. :)

10. The only real difference between these people and Jones' and
Applethwaite's people is

these people don't have the good grace to remove themselves from this world.

I mean its like they are just throwing their fate out there and challenging anyone as unhinged as they are to do something about it.

17. they welcome assaults, threats etc. some of the brethren are lawyers who love to sue..
...they sue for nothing. want a reason to limit frivolous lawsuits, here it is.

as far as their end, I'd think a lightning bold from the heavens would do.
or maybe they'll all be turned into a pillar of salt (old testament remedy for such things.)

24. Most of their lawsuits
are focused on their protests being disrupted. Every time they get interrupted apparently they can fine the local government for not protecting their rights.

only has about 50 members, all, apparently, inbred, mouthbreathing, knuckle-dragging relations of phrooty phred phelps.

20. The church is actually an extended family
Most of the adults are lawyers and preachers. So anyone that tries to take them on gets sued. The Church is really just a family compound that has been expanding. I expect they get enough attention to draw in other like minded wackos so the group continues to grow.

27. This falls under the "parody" clause of copyright law
The same thing...ohhh...let's see...lets the Christian t-shirt makers take the "Crest" logo and change the word to "Christ." (Yes, I have seen this one.) And then sell a brazillion copies of the shirt without giving any money to the Crest company.

I didn't watch the whole video (puking too hard, I guess), but it seems that Fred wouldn't really want something like this floating around. It contains pictures of Every Member of the Phelps family.

28. I wish good times in the afterlife, basking in the warm glow of eternal bliss...
that comes from having a personal, intimate with Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

I hope that eternal bliss come to them soon, and involves a bus,a mountain road, a missing railing, a longish fall, and flaming diesel fuel. After all, it's a 'warm glow', right?

I'd like to get enough money to buy a bunch of billboards
going into and out of every major city
I'd post huge pictures of Smirky with his middle finger up
you know the one I Mean
with a caption that reads simply
" The feeling is mutual, Mr Bush"
