What the heck are the repug Senators yammering about? |

on CSpan2. . They are getting up one after the other claiming that the Union bill that's being discussed is opposed by 80% of the unions...(like THEY care?) and something about "taking away the secret ballot"
I know it's BS and that Unions LIKE this bill (at least according to my email messages).. I just don't see Dems countering that "secret vote" crap. I know that it must make it harder for Unions to organize somehow..... What's the story?

2. Actually I'm a bit hesitant here |

Political points aside, and even trade unionism/labor support aside - are there any other areas where most liberals would support a vote which was called when over 50% of the "electorate" signed something for which they would be subject to non-anonymous, individual persuasion?
This one doesn;t quite sit right with me. It's nothing to do with what the vote is for, or who is voting - I'm just not all that comfortable with the manner in which votes could be carried out.
It's possible I'm misunderstanding the bill, but that's what I understand it to be - a union requires signatures of 50%+1 of the workers, can canvass them in person and one on one, etc.
