Letter to MoveOn: Whip Votes for Impeachment or you are Complicit in Crimes
Letter to MoveOn: Whip Votes for Justice or the Lash of Tyranny will forever Scar our Collective Conscience

By a progressive American patriot at http://progressiveamericanpatriot.blogspot.com/2007/06/letter-to-moveonorg-regarding.html">Progressive American Patriot blog

There is an ever-growing disconnect between the practical and the ethical in Washington. With little risk, Democrats are poised for great reward in 2008. The Republican brand is in disrepute. Howard Dean’s 50 state strategy is working. With 21 Republican Senators up for reelection, congressional Democrats are unwilling to risk their electoral advantage with articles of impeachment against the Vice-President. Any attempt to impeach is inherently risky, and carries far more unpredictable political consequences than inaction. Unfortunately, it has become clear that Dick Cheney, the Vice-President of the United States, has a blatant for the Constitution of the United States. Each member of Congress has taken an oath to defend the Constitution against all enemies, foreign and domestic. Thus far members of both parties have refused to uphold their oaths in a dereliction of duty which can only be described as politically motivated. Nevertheless, if our elected representatives are hesitant to uphold their oaths to defend the most sacred principles of this nation, we as a people have a moral responsibility to defend the republic, and force our elected representatives to act in kind. I am calling on MoveOn.org to lead the charge.

The crimes of the Vice-President are http://blog.washingtonpost.com/cheney/?hpid=topnews">public knowledge. Indeed, the Vice-President has a habit of http://progressiveamericanpatriot.blogspot.com/2007/06/cheney-did-not-say-he-is-no-longer.html">publicly declaring his blatant disregard for the law. MoveOn.org has argued that any member of Congress who votes to fund the War in Iraq without clear timetables for withdrawal is complicit in the President’s refusal to end a failed war. By the same logic, MoveOn.org’s failure to push for the Vice-President’s impeachment makes it complicit in the congressional dereliction of duty to defend the Constitution, if not the Vice-President’s crimes. MoveOn.org supporters are overwhelmingly in favor of bringing the Vice-President to justice through impeachment. We must demand that MoveOn.org whip the votes for justice or the lash of tyranny will forever scar our collective conscience.

2. Ok Move On.org back up the argument that any member
of Congress who votes to fund the War in Iraq without clear timetables for withdrawal is complicit in the President's refusal to end a failed war.

3. What utter crap. "Complicit in crimes," my tush.
So anyone who has a different opinion than you is "complicit" in whatever you don't like?

And people all over the world just LOVE being threatened into action.

I do detest self-righteous pasture pastry.

5. Clearly you don't know much about how MoveOn works and

since you didn't bother to learn more before throwing down the gauntlet it make's it seem as if you didn't care.

But for the future, Moveon is a grassroots organization and that is how they make their choices. If you want to have your say then join.

FYI the vast majority of our memberships has indicated that they want to focus on health care for all, getting out of Iraq, cleaning up our elections and saving the environment.

6. Moveon.org Has Been Soliciting Such Letters Since Early May
Here's their input feedback form, curiously concealed under the euphemistic headline "Dealing with the Administration."

I've seen/heard nothing about the outcome of this survey.

Clearly, as gov't officials, failure to impeach by the impeachophobic DC Dems constitutes complicity -- approval -- exoneration of the regime for torture/war crimes. (Sorry, that's how war crime treaties work. "We" don't get to make the rules. You are required to report and take action to stop it -- no excuses.)

Since Moveon has extended this logic to war funding, I can't see any reason for their silence on impeachment.

It's not like "our side" has some special right to benefit from ongoing torture.
