Why is security at the Super Bowl more important than at any football game? |
|
Do the people attending the Super Bowl somehow have more value than people who attend a regular-season game? Are the people attending the Super Bowl more likely targets of terrorism than the people attending a regular game?

1. more people are watching on tv, listening on radio? |
|
More chance to incite panic (for the "evildoers") and incite fear (for the "goodguys" and media).

5. The terrorists know what it takes to get into this game |
|
Face value on a Super Bowl ticket is either $600 (end zone, looking down the field) or $700 (on the side of the field) and you probably didn't get one. Most scalped Super Bowl tickets are $3000 each. Most of the people who got into the Super Bowl are corporate executives.
If you blow up the Super Bowl you'll take out a massive chunk of America's corporate leadership. Talk about bigtime street cred if you're in the terrorism business. Hence the desirability of this game as a terror target.
Besides, if they blow up the Super Bowl they won't have to watch it. Has there ever actually been a good one?

6. Well, I thought the Broncos-Packers game in 1998 was pretty exciting. |
